It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Ruby. 💔🐾
From Ruby’s Family:
We lost our sweet Ruby girl last night to pyometra, a severe and life-threatening uterine infection that developed after her last heat cycle in April. She was scheduled for emergency surgery this morning, but the infection progressed too quickly.
If you have an unspayed female dog, we encourage you to speak with your veterinarian about pyometra and the risks associated with it. We had no idea how serious this condition could be until it affected our beloved Ruby.

Pyometra most commonly develops 2–8 weeks after a heat cycle ends. Symptoms can include:
•Vaginal discharge
•Weakness or lethargy
•Vomiting or diarrhea
•Weight loss
•Loss of appetite
•Increased thirst
•Frequent urination
•A swollen or painful abdomen
If your dog begins showing any of these signs, please seek veterinary care immediately. Early diagnosis and treatment can be lifesaving.
Ruby was one of Dakotah and Wally’s puppies from their first litter. She was a truly sweet girl who loved cuddles and being close to her people. From a very young age, she had a strong bird drive and absolutely loved hunting. She brought so much joy to everyone who knew her.
We are heartbroken by this loss, and our deepest condolences go out to Ruby’s family during this incredibly difficult time. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. 🤍
