Proud to offer the best for pets and wild birds since 1982. Family. Values. Love. Three words that are at the heart of everything we do.

Established in 1982, The General Store is a family-owned and operated business that makes a point of treating everyone, vendors and customers alike, as family. The relationships we have forged over the past 35 years allow us to offer only the best products for pets and wild birds. All of our products must meet a simple standard: they have to be something we would happily take home to our own pets. Every pet deserves the best, and we take great pride in offering exceptional values every day. Our own values wouldn't let us do it any other way. We love our pets, and we love pet lovers. Come see the difference for yourself.

Your dog's new treat obsession has arrived: choose from 7 varieties of treats from Saint Rocco's Treats and 2 varieties of sprinkles that are perfect for topping food to encourage picky eaters. Homemade quality. Dog approved. Never any preservatives.

You'll be hearing more about Saint Rocco's next week when we talk about this year's Advent calendar.

You can never have enough dog treats so we've added another 12 varieties from Bocce's Bakery. Here's a little spoiler: some of these treats will be appearing in this year's Advent calendar. Bocce's is also one of the brands working with us on something special that we will be able to reveal shortly.

We haven't forgotten about the cats: we have also added nearly 20 different Kong toys for cats.

We have been busy stocking the shelves with over 30 different toys for dogs from KONG in all different sizes and styles so there's sure to be something here for every dog.

The Advent calendar boxes have arrived and we’re in the home stretch of planning something great. We can’t tell you all the details quite yet, but we can share this much:

Last year we made a great thing even better with no chicken, by-products, corn, wheat, or soy but kept the same price.

This year we’re focusing on the best of the best, the treats our customers (and their dogs) love the most. Plus we’ll be introducing the next brand your dogs will love: Saint Rocco's Treats

And the price? Still just $9.99, the same as it’s been since 2022.

Stay tuned. National Advent Calendar Day is less than a month away and we'll have all the details for you then.

That is an invoice dated 4/6/2005, with my mom's handwritten note: 12" bully sticks, $3.99.

That 2005 price is also the price you pay today, in 2026.

Spend less and spoil your dog more when you shop small with us.

Since 1982, we've been on the cutting edge of pet nutrition. Sometimes that means cutting a brand loose when it stops earning its place on our shelves.

This invoice from May 1989 was our first order for a certain brand. There were good reasons we were excited to carry it then. There are better reasons we don't anymore. It's far from the only brand we've left in the past.

That leaves out a lot of popular brands, but we're never satisfied with anything less than the best.

We think companies 100% dedicated to making pet food are the ones we should trust. So we start at the top: we don't carry pet food made by a small part of some giant consumer products conglomerate.
