This is not a big box store. Though it did look awfully big to my 6 year old self in 1985. Big box stores are everywhere now, so it's easy to forget things can be different.

We haven't. We put customers before profit and we only stock what we'd trust with our own pets.

This is not our usual post about what's new or what's in stock. This is about what we won't sell. A lot. Some of the biggest names in the pet food aisle. Brands that would sell a lot if we carried them.

We won't.

Brands come and go. In fact, we don't sell any of the brands we sold when this picture was taken in 1987. What hasn't changed in 44 years is this rule: if we wouldn't feed it to our own pets, we won't sell it to you for yours. No exceptions, no matter how much money is on the table.

A store is only as good as what it won't sell.

FYI, there has been a voluntary recall of 2 varieties of Fromm canned dog food. One of the varieties (Turkey Pate) we don't stock at all. I have just checked what we have in stock of the other variety (Milo's Meatloaf Pate) and it is not from the lot involved in the recall.

So nothing on our shelves is affected by this recall but I wanted you to hear it from us first.

August 21, 2026, FROMM FAMILY FOODS of MEQUON, Wisconsin is recalling 3,852 cases of Fromm Turkey Pâté Wet canned dog food and 1,973 cases of Fromm Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pâté Wet canned dog food due to potential metal contamination.
