About Us

Sophie was my first dog after moving out of my parents’ house. My father gave her to me as an early college graduation gift, and she became the best friend I’ve ever had. My whole life changed when she came home with me.

We spent the first few years of her life exploring Colorado and making lifelong friends. We matched our nail polish, went to brunch together nearly every weekend, and made it through some of the most challenging times together. She was my heart dog. After my father passed away in 2018, I decided that I would open Furchild as a tribute to Sophie and everything our relationship stood for: love, loyalty, bravery, and companionship.

Sophie inspired me to create a fun, safe, and educational atmosphere for pets and pet-parents. Many of the products that we carry were tested and even selected by her. Sophie got a brother, our beloved Archie, about a month before Furchild opened, and she loved spending time at the shop with him.

Sadly, Sophie was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in her nail bed, and after months of aggressive treatment, she passed away in July of 2019 at only six years old. We will continue to honor her legacy by providing the most comprehensive customer service, and by doing our best to help the pet parents in our community become the best for their furchildren.
