TUSSY IS A 1 YEAR OLD FEMALE BORDER COLLIE MIX THAT WEIGHTS 37 LBS. TUSSY WOULD DO BEST WITH SUBMISSIVE DOGS. TUSSY GETS ALONG WITH CATS AND OLDER KIDS. TUSSY IS AN ATHLETIC DOG THAT WOULD MAKE A GREAT RUNNING PARTNER.

Meet Tussey!

Tussey is one of those unforgettable dogs — bright, affectionate, outdoorsy, and completely devoted to her people. She's incredibly smart and thrives on human connection. Whether she's cuddling on the couch, leaning in for pets, or hanging out with older kids (her favorite!), Tussey is happiest when surrounded by her humans. Tussy is a 1yr old female Border Collie that weights 37 lbs.

This athletic girl loves the outdoors and makes an excellent running partner. She's full of energy and joy, and she'll shine in a home that can give her plenty of activity, playtime, and adventure. Inside the home, she's wonderfully well-mannered: fully house-broken and does great in a crate.

Tussey's ideal canine companions are submissive dogs; she can be reactive with dominant personalities and needs time to warm up to new dogs in general. With patience and positive experiences, she has been making steady progress. She can also show some food or treat reactivity, but this is improving as she continues to learn trust and boundaries.Tussy gets along with cats.

She loves her toys, loves to run, and absolutely loves her people. If you're looking for a loyal, active, and incredibly sweet companion who will bring both adventure and affection into your life, Tussey may be the perfect match.

Tussy enters the training program on Jan 9th and will graduate and be ready to go to their forever home on March 30th. Don't let that stop you though, get your app in today so you can get to know Tussy better through their training reports.

🏡🐶 Foster Homes Needed in St. Joe County & Ingham County, MI! 🐶🏡

Every 10 weeks, dogs from our partner shelters embark on a life-changing journey—training with skilled inmates to learn their manners and become the best companions they can be. But before they enter training, they need loving foster homes to help them decompress from shelter life.

As a foster, you'll play a crucial role in setting these dogs up for success by learning about their personalities, likes, and needs. And don’t worry—RPSM provides everything you need, including food, treats, a crate, collar, leash, heartworm/flea/tick prevention, and more!

If you can bring your foster to Coldwater, MI, on the day they enter training, you may qualify to be a foster!

✨ If you would like to receive an application in Word format to complete and email back to us, Please kindly send an email to [email protected] to receive your blank application. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi my name is Xena! I’m an affectionate 3 year old female Labrador Schnauzer mix that weights 56 lbs. After being at the Ingham County Shelter I went through my training at the correctional facility and really learned my manners and how to act in a home. I love people and show my affection for them with snuggling, impressive tail wags, and lots of kisses! After my training I went to a home that I did really well at; I acclimated to the cat that lived there and we ended up getting along great. I went in my crate at bedtime, and during the day, if I needed to be left alone, I could be trusted in the house. But I didn’t like it when the young kids would crowd my personal space and if they left the door open for me I would run into the road and want to adventure, so it was decided it would be safest for me to be in a home with kids ages 10 and up. I am playful but I know when it’s time to play and when to stop. I love my toys and I’ll probably greet you at the door and then go get one of them to play with you.

I have a skin issue that medicated shampoo and a supplement helps but is still being resolved. I do chase squirrels, deer and moles, so having a fenced yard is a must for me! When it comes to other dogs I need slow introductions and exposure over time and then I can ease into being them. I walk really well with my gentle leader halter; it helps me not pull and reminds me to stay right next to my person. I benefit from consistent routine and having boundaries set for me, including clear communication about hierarchy in the home. My trainers at the facility said that I need exercise, obedience, and affection in that order! I am food motivated and willing to work during training sessions; I truly want to make my human happy and I try hard to please! I have learned a lot over the past 6 months going from shelter to training facility to a home and now another home; I’m trying my hardest and would love to keep learning while also building a lasting relationship with you! The International Day of Veterinary Medicine, celebrated annually on December 9th, recognizes and appreciates the vital work done by veterinarians worldwide.

RPSM is so very grateful for our WONDEFUL and VERY helpful Veterinarian partners that take care of the dogs that come into our program when needed. Anything from ear infections to runny/bloody stools to skin issues, and more.
This day shines a light on the important role veterinarians play not only in animal health but also in human health and welfare.

Veterinarians do more than just take care of our pets; they’re involved in groundbreaking medical research that benefits both animals and humans, work tirelessly to improve animal welfare, and are key players in managing public health concerns.

Their expertise spans a wide range of areas, from shelter medicine and parasitology to complex fields like epidemiology and zoonotic diseases. The day encourages us to show gratitude for their hard work and dedication.
