At ReDux, we often see the healing power of horses.

We watch them as they finally exhale, finding peace and safety with us.

At the same time, our volunteers also receive comfort in the presence of these amazing horses, like Bobby the haflinger who is offering affection to one of our volunteers.

Sugar the mini politely declines neck nibbles from Lev, a gaited horse — especially as they are just getting to know each other due to some paddock reshuffling.

Sure, cats are curious, but horses can be just as inquisitive …

Once our rescues settle in and feel safe, we often see them start to truly explore. Here is Roja coming for a closer look, Lev examining a grooming kit, and Champ — always looking for both people and other horses to meet.

Merlin the mini, now a gelding, is back at the rescue after a successful visit to University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He seemed to especially enjoy meeting the statue of Hank in the Butler Garden.

Merlin (the mini horse) and Wonky (the donkey) look longingly at our volunteers after a great grooming session on this hot June day. We still have a few volunteer slots left — in the evenings on Monday, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays — to feed our horses and complete a few barn chores with another volunteer.

Volunteers are at the heart of ReDux Equine Rescue Inc. — and we are looking for a few more sets of hands to fill water troughs, feed horses, or help with barn chores. This important work allows us to rescue and rehabilitate more horses in need.
