Hello!
Judy can use your help!! Judy is my amazing rescued skunk and the inspiration for Judy the skunk: rescue and rehab! 🦨
Judy was abandoned as a baby and walked up to a family hiking in the forest. NOT a good way to survive in the wild! She has been de-scented and is obviously not releasable. 🖤 🤍
She gets out in the community several times a year to teach all ages about skunks and their role in the environment and their special features. She loves getting pets and all the attention!

Hi! Gabby could use your help making sure she has everything she needs for her remaining years at Judy the Skunk: Rescue and Rehab!
Gabby is our 15 year old cat who was adopted after having lived all of her life in shelters. ❤️‍🩹🐈‍⬛
After over a month of patience and bonding, Gabby is coming out of her shell and learning how to be loved. 🥹 She has even been purring, although it’s kind of pathetic haha. It’s like she doesn’t know how to purr.
Gabby has feline herpesvirus (FHV-1), which means she needs a little extra care. It also means every cat we bring into the rescue will be previously diagnosed with FHV-1, as it is extremely contagious in felines. GOOD NEWS THOUGH! FHV-1 is NOT contagious to any of the other animals in the rescue!
So, can you help Gabby out? 🩶

Let me introduce “the boys”! 💚 🩵 Gibson is my techy and shy kid. He’s the oldest of the two. He prefers city life over mountain life, and that’s okay.
Triton is a mountain boy; he’s like his mother in that matter! He is most likely to catch wild snakes, jump from the cliff first, and try anything at least once. He is the epitome of “second child”. 🥴
They are a huge help here at Judy the Skunk: rescue and rehab. They were even the ones who helped me build the outdoor enclosure!

Had to share this little snap shot of rehab life with Marty.
Marty was abandoned/lost his family somehow in Cody, WY. Marty is a one in a million raccoon. He exhibits very calm and loving behavior most of the time. Even though he should have out grown this habit a couple weeks ago, Marty still has his sucking instinct and will cuddle and suck on my face or arm for comfort.
Marty also has floppier ears, sometimes one will even fold over like a puppy’s! Scientists think this is a sign of evolutionary self - domestication traits. Another example of this phenomenon is shorter faces. These things are pleasing of the human eye that make us love those “puppy dog faces”. 🥹

HOWEVER, even though Marty is calm MOST OF THE TIME does not mean he hasn’t left me with bruises and drawn blood. He is still the one who ripped a giant tear in my curtains. He is still the one who pushed my lamp over. He still runs around the house at warp speed. Raccoons 👏🏻make👏🏻horrible👏🏻pets!👏🏻 Even though they are showing these traits, THEY ARE NOT DOMESTICATED!

We are all waiting for this 100+ degree heat wave to pass us so they can go back into their outdoor enclosure. Until then, Marty and I will be looking for a new lamp on Amazon. 🦝 🩶

It’s another HOT week out here in northwest Wyoming. 🥵 That means the babies are spending more time inside in the nice AC. 🦝 That means more sneak attacks, extra play bites, additional holes in the curtains, and play time with the dog, Raven. 🐾 Stay cool, play hard.

TODAY IT FINALLY HAPPENED!! 🎉
Today, after a month of love and patience, Gabby came to me and let me pet her! 🥹
Gabby is our 15 year old cat who we adopted from Park County Animal Shelter. She had only ever lived in shelters her whole life until we found her online and decided she needs a great home to live out the rest of her life.
Gabby has left me many a scratch in our bonding time; but this makes it ALL SO WORTH IT!

Judy did NOT want to wake up this morning! 🤣 She even does the “sleepy sigh” at the end of the video.
Skunks are nocturnal, however we have sleep trained Judy since we got her as a baby (kit). She typically puts herself to bed around 9 pm.
In the winter time, she will start torporing. Torpor is like hibernating, except torpor isn’t as long or deep of a sleep. Judy does what is called “daily torpor” where she will sleep for around 20 hours a day. Torpor allows skunks to survive the brutal Wyoming winters by slowing the metabolic rate when there is scarce food supply.
Other animals that torpor include hummingbirds, bats, and mice.
