🐾 It Takes a Team to Keep Dogs in Their Homes ❤️

A huge thank you to Leslie from Hounds Town for connecting me with Nicole (“Nikki”) and her mom, Donna, all the way from New Jersey. Today we had our first training session with their dog, Apollo, and it was a great start!

Apollo’s biggest challenge has been excessive barking while he’s in his kennel. Rather than simply trying to stop the barking, we focused on understanding why it’s happening. In many cases, barking in the crate comes from anxiety, uncertainty, or a lack of confidence not because a dog is being “bad.”

Our training plan is centered on:
🐶 Building Apollo’s confidence through calm leadership.
🚶 Structured “Walk & Talk” exercises to create trust, communication, and leadership.
🏡 Teaching the kennel to become a safe, relaxing place instead of a stressful one.
👏 Rewarding calm, quiet behavior with praise first, then a treat once Apollo is settled.
❤️ Creating consistency so Apollo understands what is expected and feels secure.

This is exactly why teamwork and community partnerships matter. By working together, we can help families solve behavior challenges before they become overwhelming and most importantly, keep dogs in their loving homes.
