Maxine was a cutest puppy.
Hi DTR Families & Fans! I will be training our purple collar girl during the summer & would love to invite our DTR pups to come join in the fun. We will be starting at Lake Lanier for water introduction. Retriever puppies are bred to love water, but they still need to be shown what you expect of them. M of puppies and have a great program that is proven. We can start with water introductions. Retriever puppies are bred to love water, but they still need to be shown what you expect of them. Throwing retrieves is another aspect of early training we can visit. My dogs have a ton of natural ability. This is our foundation then we use training as building blocks. Here are are few guidelines that we will follow; When retrieving, use small, lightweight canvas or paint rollers as bumpers. A knotted sock will do. Only toss retrieves in confined areas such as a hallway to encourage direct returns. This is IMPORTANT!
When the pup is tired, hot and panting, don't toss bumpers. Leave them wanting more!
Avoid repetitive, meaningless retrieves that extend to the point of boredom. The pup will pursue other interests or make a toy out of the bumper.
Never sn**ch anything from a pup's mouth. Gently encourage a release despite your frustration. Tell everyone else in contact with the pup to do the same!
Children should be supervised when playing with the pup, and keep a close eye on visiting friends. Their misguided interaction may play havoc with a pup's training.
Feel free to reach out to me next week! We can’t wait to get started and welcome you to come work (train) with us.
