The fir trees are always the last to put out their new growth. They are really starting to come out. These guys will be a foot taller and a foot wider by July 1 and be beautiful 7-8 footers for your next Christmas tree!🌲 🌲

12 inches of rain on the farm in the past month means you have to work around the puddles to keep healthy trees! Hopefully some drier weather on the way!

Concolor Fir fans will be happy this year. They are always the first to start their spring growing on the farm and we are going to have some beauties this year!

I’m not saying I condone balloon releases, but I do find it interesting that a balloon traveled from Indiana over 165 miles on Easter Sunday to land at a Christmas tree farm. It was a miracle I found it this morning on my perimeter walk around the farm since the balloon had popped. https://www.mcnattchurch.com

In honor of recently finishing up our 25th year of planting baby Christmas trees we wrote a little poem!

“The Firs at Hidden Pines”
(A Seussy Tale from Clyde, Ohio)

We planted some firs, not too big, not too tall,
Just wee little trees, not much taller than y’all!
One thousand were tucked in the soil with care,
With sunshine above and Ohioan air.

“Now grow!” we all cheered as we watered the ground,
With spades and with shovels and boots all around.
But don’t grab your sled or your saw just yet—
These firs have a schedule they haven’t quite met!

They’ll grow and they’ll grow (and they’ll grow some more too!),
But eight years must pass before they’re for you.
For now, they just wiggle their roots down below,
And dream little dreams of December snow.

They joined with a forest—eight thousand or so!
Of cousins and kin who’ll be watching them grow.
At Hidden Pines Farm, where the trees sway and spin,
We wait for the magic of Christmas to begin.

So come take a walk, bring your boots and your smile,
The trees here in Clyde are worth every mile.
They’re growing up slow, but with love and with light,
’Til one day they stand in your home, glowing bright!

2025 planting season is a wrap! I am always excited to plant the first baby tree of the season but never as happy as when I plant the last one! Eight days and 1,000 trees planted and now time for a rest. These trees should be ready to come to your homes in 2033. Don’t worry; we have plenty of trees that will be ready for this Christmas! See you in November!
