In recognition of International Tiger Day, we celebrate Sooner, our Bengal Tiger. Bengal Tigers are endangered due to poaching and habitat loss. They are extremely solitary animals and very good swimmers! They can consume 40-60 pounds of meat in one sitting!!!
Sooner is 13 1/2 years old and he plays a vital role at the Hillcrest Park Zoo! Come say hello to Sooner Tuesday - Sunday! 💕 🐅

Today we have our NEWEST keepers being featured for National Zookeeper Week!! 🎉

Here we have Deven, who has been here one week! He is the primary for Swans 🦢, Emu 🐦, Zebra 🦓, Ostrich 🐦 , and Crane 🐦 !

We also have here Jeremiah, who has been here one month! He is primary to Bison 🦬, Camel 🐪, Ibex 🐐, and Porcupine!

Franco has been a keeper with the Hillcrest Park Zoo for 2 years and is primary keeper for Wolf 🐺, Caracal 🐈, Elk 🫎 , Ponies, Donkeys, and Goat 🐴

Some of you may be wondering about our Giraffe, Jericha, who is featured in this picture. You’re probably wondering when she will be coming home. Don’t fret! She will be returning with her boyfriend in about 2 months! We are currently undergoing construction for their new FEEDING PLATFORM!! 💕

The zoo is currently hiring for a Zoo Maintenance Specialist position! In this vital role, you’ll help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our animals, guests, and staff.

Responsibilities include:

Groundskeeping duties such as mowing, trimming, and landscaping

Assisting in the setup, teardown, and upkeep of animal exhibits

Supporting special events by helping with logistics, equipment, and event space preparation

Conducting general facility maintenance and repairs as needed

Ensuring all public areas remain clean, safe, and accessible

This week is National Zookeeper Week — a time to pause and recognize the incredible dedication, compassion, and hard work of our zookeepers.

Every single day, they go above and beyond to care for the animals that call our zoo home. From feeding and cleaning to enriching, training, and providing medical care, their work is never-ending and often unseen. But it is essential.

To kick off the week, we have Trina!
She is our primary Spider Monkey, Marmoset, Warthog, and Javelina zookeeper! She has been at Hillcrest Park Zoo for 4 and 1/2 months! Thank you for all you do Trina! 🎉
