With the 4th of July just a few days away, please be mindful of your pets and their safety during the holiday. Many pets may be afraid of the loud noises of fireworks so be sure to properly secure your pets, give them a safe space to help them feel secure, and ensure their microchip information is up-to-date just in case they get loose over the holiday weekend.

A quick reminder that microchips with current, up-to-date pet owner information are required for cats and dogs three months or older.
If you need to get your pets microchipped, the High Plains Humane Society is offering a free vaccine and low-cost microchip clinic this weekend (June 21-22, 8am-12pm at the Food Bank of Eastern NM).

High Plains Humane Society will be holding a free vaccine and low-cost microchip clinic March 22-23 from 9am-2pm at the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico. This drive-up style clinic is a great opportunity to protect your pets from serious diseases and comply with the City ordinance that requires microchips for pets.

Pets must be personally owned, and healthy.
Dogs must be on a leash, and cats must be in a carrier.

Giving your pet regular vaccinations is the secret to a healthy pet’s life. Vaccines now cover multiple diseases like DHLPP in dogs and FVCRP in cats. These diseases can cause illness in your pet so it is important to vaccinate to reduce the risk and protect the health of your pet. Other diseases that can be vaccinated against include Bordetella which is a upper respiratory disease in dogs and Lyme disease which affects the joints of your dog.
