🐾 A Little Behind-the-Scenes Reality of Rescue! ❤️
We wanted to take a moment to share something about what goes on behind the scenes at Critters & Company.
Today, we welcomed a transport of puppies who arrived in desperate need of baths! Let’s just say they had a pretty messy ride! 💩🐶 And yes, there was quite a bit of barking coming from our shop while we got them cleaned up and ready for their foster homes.
We understand that barking can be frustrating, especially for our neighboring businesses and customers, and we truly do our best to minimize any disruptions.
But here’s something we wish more people understood.
Many of the animals coming into rescue have come from situations most of us would never want to see. Some have been abandoned, neglected, or left to survive on their own. For some, rescue is literally the difference between life and death.
So while someone may hear a barking dog for a little while, what we see is an animal who is finally safe, getting cleaned up, receiving care, and heading toward a better life. ❤️
Our shop is NOT where these animals permanently live. We are a foster-based rescue, and our goal is always to get them into loving foster homes as quickly as possible.
There are rare occasions when an emergency leaves us without an immediate foster placement, and we may need to temporarily house a dog in our shop until we can find somewhere safe for them to go. It’s never our first choice, but sometimes rescue doesn’t happen under perfect circumstances.
We respect our neighbors, our customers, and our community. We understand the concerns.
But we also hope people can look beyond the occasional barking and see the bigger picture. These are lives being saved. Animals who might otherwise have been forgotten, abandoned, or never given another chance.
Rescue isn’t always quiet. It isn’t always pretty. Sometimes it’s messy, exhausting, and yes, LOUD! But every single one of those lives matters. 🐾❤️
