Just a friendly reminder that our offices are closed today, December 31, and tomorrow, January 1. We will resume normal business hours and adoptions at 10:00 AM on January 2.

Have a wonderful day, celebrate safely, and we’ll see you in the new year! 🐾

From tough days to joyful wins, 2025 showed us the power of compassion, teamwork, and heart.

This year brought lifesaving care through our vaccine and microchip clinic, community moments like our first Trunk or Treat, chili cook-offs, Twinkle Town pride, and even a little mercy for two very lucky turkeys.

We welcomed new friends of all ages, opened our doors for tours, showed up again and again providing community education and resources, food pantry support, and a commitment to giving animals second chances that kept our save rate over 94%!

Thank you so much for being a part of our year, it was truly a great one. We are looking forward to working together to make it an even better 2026! 🌟

Happy New Year from Macomb County Animal Control! 🐾❤️

Our offices will be closed Wednesday December 31st and Thursday January 1st. We will reopen Friday January 2nd at 10am.

🌬️ High Wind Warning Alert 🌬️

We’re expecting very strong winds (gusts up to 50–60 mph), so please take a moment to make sure all fencing is secure and gates are fully latched before letting your pets outside.

Extra caution for our small breeds! These winds can be scary (and even dangerous) for little ones. Keep a close eye on them and consider supervised potty breaks until conditions improve.

A little prevention goes a long way in keeping everyone safe, big paws and tiny paws alike 🐾💨

Stay safe out there!

✨ What a wonderful week it’s been! ✨

We celebrated 13 of our friends finding their new loving homes just in time for Christmas, including three very special (not pictured) cats adopted together and perfectly named Marzipan, Nutmeg, and Sugarplum 💛

Thank you to each and every adopter for opening your hearts and homes. You truly made the holidays brighter!

As we look ahead to the New Year, it feels like the perfect time for fresh starts and new beginnings. We can’t wait to ring in 2026 and continue helping more pets find the families they deserve.

If you’re thinking about adding a new friend to your family, now is the perfect time. We are especially hoping this is the week that Sara, Creed, and Barley, our longest-term residents, finally get their fresh start. They’ve been patiently waiting and deserve a home of their own.

📅 Office Closure Reminder:
Our offices will be closed Wednesday, December 31 and Thursday, January 1.

🎄✨ Holiday Gratitude from All of Us ✨🎄

We want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by this holiday season with such generous donations for our shelter pets and our community. ❤️🐾

Your kindness makes a powerful impact. Donations of food and supplies help care for animals at MCAC and supports pets in the community through our Pet Food Pantry, providing food, litter, and essentials to families who need a little extra help.

Monetary donations are just as meaningful. They directly support pets in need of emergency medical care and help fund our Animal Control programs, which play a vital role in keeping both animals and people safe. These programs help prevent shelter overcrowding, keep pets in their homes whenever possible, and provide treatment for animals facing serious medical conditions. Our Emergency Medical Fund allows us to respond quickly when animals are injured or critically ill, giving them the urgent care and second chances they deserve.

We are truly grateful for every single donation. While we weren’t able to catch everyone in the act, here are a few photos of some very sneaky holiday elves who tried to slip in quietly! A special thank you to our friends at Macomb County Health Department, The Pines Senior Living, Granger Construction Company, AFSCME Local 411, Girl Scout Troop 77025, and the countless others who dropped off donations.🎅

Please know that we appreciate each and every person who donates not just during the holidays, but all year long. Your support makes a real difference, and we couldn’t do this work without you.

Wishing you all a joyful holiday season filled with warmth, kindness, and wagging tails! 🎄🐶🐱

Thank you for being part of our MCAC family. ❤

Our offices will be closed on December 24th and 25th as we celebrate the holiday. While our doors may be closed, our dedicated kennel staff and volunteers will be here making sure our pets are safe, comfortable, and feeling the love all holiday long.

We wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season. We will reopen for adoptions and regular business on Friday, December 26th.

❤️🎄🥳 UPDATE: ADOPTED! 🥳🎄❤️

🎄🐶 All I Want for Christmas Is… Fifi!

This sweet girl spent the day visiting with our friends from the Macomb County Health Department Medical Examiners office and absolutely charmed everyone she met! Now she’s hoping her next stop is a new home. 🏡❤️

Just look at that face. 😍
Fifi sitting sweetly under a Christmas tree, serving pure holiday magic with the most adorable expression. It’s like she knows she’s on Santa’s nice list and just waiting for her family to find her. 🎅✨

Fifi is a 1-year-old Lab/Border Collie mix and is truly the best girl:
✔️ Knows her commands
✔️ Loves treats and praise
✔️ Gets along well with other dogs
✔️ Smart, happy, and eager to please

She’s an active pup with lots of joyful energy, so she’s looking for a home that can keep up with her fun-loving spirit. Because of that energy, we wouldn’t recommend a home with cats.

If you’re searching for a loyal, loving, and downright adorable companion this holiday season, Fifi is your girl!

🎁 Come meet Fifi! We are open for adoptions this week Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 10-4.

Please share and help us find Fifi a home for the howlidays! 🐾

🎄🐾 Holiday Happy Tails! 🐾🎄

This week we celebrated 14 incredible adoptions, and we couldn’t be happier! Fourteen of our friends are heading home for the holidays, and we are so thankful to the amazing adopters who opened their homes and hearts to give these pets a second chance. We can’t wait to hear all the updates! 💕

We still have several wonderful pets who are hoping to find a home for the holidays. While pets aren’t meant to be presents, they would love nothing more than a family of their own to celebrate with this season. Take a look at all of our adorable adoptables and fill out an application for your new best friend here: https://www.macombgov.org/departments/animal-control/adoptions

🐶🐱 This week adoptions are open:
📅 Monday, Tuesday & Friday 10-4
Our offices will be closed Wednesday, December 24 & Thursday, December 25.

We hope you had a great weekend and have a fantastic holiday week ahead! 🎄

🐰🎅 ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS… A HOME! 🎅🐰

Look who’s getting into the holiday spirit! Meet Custard, our adorable 2-year-old black shorthair rabbit, rocking his Santa hat and stealing hearts left and right ❤️🎄

Custard hopped into our lives after being found in Washington Township in October, and now he’s neutered, feeling festive, and ready to find his forever home. He’s a total snuggle bug, loves exploring outside his play pen, and is always on the nice list when leafy greens are involved 🥬🐇

We may usually be known for dogs and cats, but this Christmas we’re reminding everyone that a little bunny can bring just as much joy, love, and personality to a home. Custard is hoping to find someone who’s been thoughtfully considering a rabbit and is ready to welcome a new family member this holiday season—and beyond.

If your heart (and home) has room for a bunny this season, Custard would love to meet you. Stop by Pet Supplies Plus - Clinton Twp, MI and say hello to our friend Custard! 🐰

🥳 UPDATE! BUMPUS HAS BEEN ADOPTED!! 👏👏🥳

🎄🐶 “Those Bumpus Dogs!!” 🐶🎄

Remember when Ralphie’s Christmas was almost ruined by the Bumpus dogs? Well… meet our Bumpus! All the floppy ears, droopy eyes, and lovable charm… but without the chaos and turkey theft. 😉

This 1-year-old Bloodhound is a total sweetheart. He’s curious, affectionate, and happiest in a calm, low-key home where he can relax, snuggle, and enjoy gentle adventures. His heart is as big as his ears, and he’s ready to find someone who will appreciate his easygoing nature.

🐾 Dog-friendly (he’d love a mellow canine companion!)
🐾 Low-key, affectionate, and full of love
🚫 No cats — some traditions must stay intact 😉
🎁 Perfect for families or individuals looking for a calm, main-character dog this season

If you’ve been dreaming of a dog who will quietly steal your heart, nap by your side, and still brighten your days… Bumpus is your guy.

📍 Come meet him Monday–Friday, 10–4

📲 Tag a friend who loves "A Christmas Story" and share to help Bumpus find his forever home!

🌟 TWINKLE TOWN RESULTS ARE IN! 🎄✨

We may not have taken home the crown this year, but we truly feel like winners just for being part of the magic! 💖 A huge thank you to everyone who voted and showed support it means more than you know.

A very special shoutout and thank you to Mark Hackel, his wife Tracie, and the Macomb County Executive office, who put countless hours into hand-making ornaments and beautifully decorating a tree that truly shined. Your dedication and creativity did not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for your support.

We’re also excited to share that this tree will live on — next year, it will be repurposed as an Animal Control Giving Tree to help animals in need during the holidays. 🐾🎁

Congratulations to and ’s Good Day Detroit on their well-deserved win! 🏆 The $10,000 donation will make an incredible impact in our community.

Here’s to holiday cheer, giving back, and celebrating every twinkle along the way. 🎄

✨🎄 TWINKLE TOWN WINNER! 🎄✨
After 50,000+ votes cast in-store and online, ’s Good Day Detroit has officially been crowned the 2025 Twinkle Town winner! ☕🎤🔔

Their “Good Day Detroit” tree, decked out with coffee mugs, microphones, and a jingle bell signed by the morning show anchors, stole the spotlight and the votes. Even better, their charity partner, , received a $10,000 donation for the win! ❤️

Gleaners supports nearly 350 pantry partners across our region and provides critical food access through pantries, shelters, schools, and drive-up grocery distributions.

Huge thank you to all 24 incredible trees designed by local celebs, influencers, and businesses — every participating charity is receiving a donation because giving back is what Twinkle Town is all about. ✨

We love our Twinkle Town holiday tradition and already can’t wait to do it all again next year! 🎄💫
