Rehab is an essential part of the success at the Tarheel Beagle Club. Work started as soon as the AKC Championship was completed. Sections must come down each year to properly manage our habitats. We look forward to seeing everyone this fall👍

Well the AKC SPO National Championship 2026 is in the books. 361 of the best hounds from around the country showed up to compete. The males classes started Thursday AM and the females finished Saturday afternoon.

The Purina banquet honoring the hounds of the year and the Hounds and Hunting Hall of Fame inductions filled the house at the Statesville Civic Center. Thanks to Buzzy Bunch for catering again this year.

The folks were so impressed with our grounds and game population it looks like there is a good chance the Tarheel Beagle Club will be hosting this event for at least the next couple of years. It will also be more like old times with cookout Friday night which may be shrimp, crab and other specialties handlers want to bring. Stay tuned 🎉

Tarheel is proud to host the PBGV National at our club this year. These are some great folks coming from all over the country to compete with their hounds. If you have not heard of them. The PBGV “Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen” is a French Basset Hound trained to hunt rabbits.
