🐾❤️ GUARDIAN HOMES — A PARTNERSHIP BUILT ON LOVE, TRUST & RESPONSIBLE BREEDING ❤️🐾
I want to take a moment to explain something that is very important to me and to my breeding program at O.G. Doodles — our Guardian Home Program.
There are often misconceptions about guardian homes and why breeders use them. Some people are quick to judge without truly understanding the purpose behind them. So, I want to share the heart behind MY program.
First and foremost, my dogs are not just breeding dogs. They are family. ❤️
As a responsible breeder, I believe every single dog deserves more than just excellent care. They deserve individual attention, a warm home, a family to bond with, a couch to curl up on, and a lifetime of being loved and spoiled.
And the reality is, no matter how much I love my dogs, there are only so many hours in a day and only so much individual attention one person can give.
THAT is why guardian homes are so important.
A guardian home is a partnership between a breeder and a loving family. It allows one of my carefully selected breeding dogs to live as a cherished family pet in a permanent home while remaining part of my breeding program for an agreed-upon period of time.
The guardian family provides the everyday love, companionship, and attention that every dog deserves. I provide guidance, support, and oversight of the dog’s breeding responsibilities, always with their health and well-being as a priority.
When their breeding career is complete, they retire from my program and continue living with the family they have known and loved all along.
No rehoming after retirement. No starting over with a new family. Just a lifetime of love and stability. ❤️
I also want to address something that I feel strongly about.
Responsible breeding is NOT abuse. Having a guardian home program is NOT neglect. And being a breeder does NOT mean you love your dogs any less.
In fact, when done correctly, a guardian home program is one of the ways a breeder can put the needs of their dogs FIRST.
I am proud to be a state-licensed and inspected breeder. I have worked hard to build a program centered around health testing, responsible breeding decisions, proper care, socialization, and the overall happiness of my dogs.
I don’t want my dogs simply existing in a breeding facility. I want them LIVING — enjoying family vacations, playing in the yard, sleeping beside their favorite people, and experiencing everything that comes with being someone’s beloved pet.
Guardian homes allow me to continue doing what I love without sacrificing the individual love and attention my dogs deserve.
And for the guardian families, it is a wonderful opportunity to welcome a carefully selected, quality dog from a licensed and inspected breeding program, with an ongoing relationship and support from the breeder. It is a commitment, and it comes with responsibilities on both sides — but when the right family and breeder come together, it can be something truly special.
I understand that not everyone agrees with breeding, and that’s okay. But I hope people will take the time to understand the difference between irresponsible breeding and a breeder who genuinely works to do things the right way.
My goal has never been to have the MOST dogs. My goal is to give every dog in my program the BEST life possible.
To my guardian families, thank you for being an extension of my home and my heart. You play such an important role in what makes O.G. Doodles special.
And to anyone considering becoming a guardian family, I would love to talk with you about what this partnership involves.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about raising beautiful puppies. It’s about loving and doing right by the dogs who make those puppies possible. 🐾❤️
