Starting Friday, April 29th all adoption fees will be waived for adult and senior dogs and cats throughout Sunday, May 1st.

A mosquito is tiny, and annoying. It can be eliminated with the slap of a hand. Those that have never seen a heartworm, don't understand what that tiny, annoying mosquito creates. It carries microfilaria that grow into heartworms. It is NOT a virus, or bacteria. A male heartworm is four to six inches long! A female heartworm is 10 to 12 inches long! They are 1/8 of an inch in diameter...from that tiny, annoying mosquito!
Now imagine hundreds of 4 to 12 inch long worms in your heart!
When your pet is bitten by a mosquito, it takes about 6 to 7 months for the worms to start to grow. You're not thinking about mosquitoes anymore when they begin to slowly kill your pet. Worms can live 5 to 7 years, but during that life they are massively reproducing. Your animal may not begin to show signs of illness until it is too late and there are hundreds of worms destroying their heart and the vessels around it.
Treatment for heartworms is slow, and extremely hard on your pet. THEY SUFFER. They must have only minimal exercise, and have to be contained with constant rest and care for months!! Excitement, stress and exercise will literally kill them. AND TREATMENT IS INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE! Many pet owners cannot afford it. I know I can't!
Heartworm preventive is a small expense compared to treating heartworms to save your pet from a slow and agonizing death.
There is no magic pill you can give your pet to quickly treat heartworm disease. It is a very long process. It is difficult, and the animal suffers for months.
PLEASE put your pets on heartworm preventive. It is one, inexpensive chewable a month, and now there are injections that can be provided. It is all quick, and easy, and saves your pet from dying a horrible death, or suffering for months through expensive treatment to survive.
It is all preventable! Your pet has no way to protect itself. It is up to you. Please just do it!

DOG OF THE MONTH FOR APRIL IS OUR SWEET HANK 🥰🐶 Hank is looking for his forever home. He is a 1 year old lab mix, and true to the breed likes everyone- human and animal. It may take him a few minutes to warm up to new people, but then he is your buddy forever.
He loves to run and play with other dogs. His best friend is a cat.
He even loves vegetables!
Hank was born with imperfect hip sockets. He currently shows little evidence of his disability, but some day he may.
He is housebroken and crate trained. He is very smart and loves puzzles.
