Just like people, dogs can struggle with allergies that affect their skin, and this time of year we see a lot of itchy pups in the clinic. Here are some common signs your dog may be dealing with allergies:

Meet Lizzy – One of Our Amazing Veterinary Technicians! 🌟

🐾 What inspired you to start working in veterinary medicine?: I’ve always felt a deep connection with animals and a calling to help them. Their unconditional love inspires me every single day. Being able to heal and comfort them is truly my greatest joy.

🐾 Do you have any pets at home?: A house wouldn’t be complete without one! I have a mixed rescue named Maximus, the love of my life (don’t tell my husband)

🐾 What’s one memorable moment you’ve had while working at the clinic?: I’ll never forget helping a scared stray dog learn to trust again. Watching her transform from fearful to joyful was incredibly moving. Moments like that remind me why I love what I do especially with such an amazing team who’s just as passionate!

🍬 No candy for pets! Chocolate and xylitol (found in sugar-free treats) are dangerous for dogs and cats. Keep all sweets well out of reach—those sneaky paws move fast!

👻 Costume check! Not every pet loves to dress up. If yours does, make sure their costume fits comfortably and doesn’t restrict movement, vision, or breathing. Comfort and safety over cute!

🏡 Create a calm zone. Doorbells, costumes, and trick-or-treaters can be overwhelming. Give your pet a quiet, cozy space to relax—and keep doors secure to prevent any great escapes.
