I have sad news concerning Silver Lake Rescue - our Vice-President Ellen Rhynard passed away on Friday. It was so suddenly. She has been in charge of the Cat rescues since she joined Silver Lake. Many of our volunteers looked to her for answers on caring for our kitties! She was a great friend to me and I will miss her every day. I joined the rescue in 2002 and she has always been a great support in animal rescue. Many animals - cats, dogs, birds, and rabbits have been rescued and adopted to wonderful homes because of her knowledge and efforts. Silver Lake would not be still going strong this many years without her love of this rescue and the animals we foster! I know she will be with us in spirit as we move on in our quest to stop the overpopulation of dogs and cats and educate the public on the need to spay/neuter their pets! Silver Lake will not adopt any of our fostered cats and dogs without age appropriate tests, vaccines and most important the spay/neuter!

Our condolences to her husband and her family from all of us in the rescue and those whose lives have been touched with the adoption of an animal she fostered!

It was a wonderful day at PetSmart in Rochester Hills yesterday! 6 of our kitties were adopted and 4 were taken to their new homes!

Silver Lake celebrated their 32nd anniversary last September because we always put our fostered animals first! Yes, we always need monetary donations but it is because we don't skimp on medical care. You won't find young babies for adoption through us because we do not adopt until all age-related tests and vaccines and spays/neuters are done. We also microchip our cats and dogs for their protection!

Our mission is to rescue unwanted cats and dogs, provide medical care, and most of all a temporary home filled with love. We do not have a shelter; we are a network of foster homes. None of our volunteers get paid - no one - not even members of the board! Our volunteers are the best! They are responsible for buying the food and litter for cats and food for our dogs. Silver Lake pays for the medical expenses.

Our adoption fee is $150 for each cat! You can find some of our kitties online at: www.silverlake.petfinder.com We are pet partners with PetSmart located in Rochester Hills - 1116 S Rochester Rd. You will find them in the Adoption Center

UPDATE: Jack was adopted Saturday! He is a lucky boy who was adopted the day he was brought to PetSmart In Rochester Hills.

Are you looking for a sweet butterball? Then Jack is your man. He loves to snuggle and be silly. He loves other kitties too! He is a year old.
Jack is finishing up his vetting and will be available soon. He is fixed, had his rabies and tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He is just finishing up his other vaccines. Look for him soon on Silverlake.petfinder.com or inquire here.

Go find your furever Valentine at Petsmart at 1116 S. Rochester Rd. Here are just a few of the kittens waiting to meet you! Hope, Bubbles and Mr. Sparkles. Mama and Coco are there til Saturday February 8th. Cesar and Nick will be making their debut on Sunday February 9th.

It is with a heavy heart that I share this gofund me. No parent should have to bury a child. Our friend's son, Sam, passed away early this morning in his sleep. She has been a volunteer with Silver Lake Animal Rescue League for many years and she needs help to cover the funeral expenses. If you have ever been to the Rochester Hills Petsmart, you may have met Anna while she volunteered caring for the kitties at the store.
I know it's a hard time of year for everyone so please, donate if you can and please share.

Sweet Sugar Bear has had very little interest. Ar 35 lbs, she is the perfect medium size dog. She is very intelligent, loyal, loving and tries to please. Available for adoption!
