Haven Dog Rescue Our goal with every dog is to find the perfect family match so that they are lovingly cared for the rest of their lives.

Please consider making a donation today to assist our efforts and save more dogs in the greater Sacramento area! We typically pull our dogs from local shelters that are labeled un-adoptable. We work on their issues and prepare them for entering a regular home life. Sometimes its a short process and sometimes it take several months or even longer. We are 501c3 non profit, so donations are tax deduc

tible. We have an adoption screening process and we perform home checks for all families wishing to take our dogs. There is also an adoption fee which helps us pay for vet, grooming, and food bills for our dogs. All our staff are volunteers and are motivated solely by the love they have for our dogs and the determination they have to finding them a great forever home. Meet Jack! 🐾 Look at those incredible ears—they’re perfectly tuned to listen for the sound of a tennis ball hitting the floor!

Jack is an active, fun-loving dude who is looking for his forever teammate. If you have a toy and a willing throwing arm, you’ve found your new best friend. This smart boy isn't just about play, though; he’s a total pro at his commands! He already knows sit, down, and "sit pretty" (and he looks adorable doing it).

The Lowdown on Jack:

Active Lifestyle: He could play fetch all day long! 🎾

Health: He’s already neutered and current on all his shots. 🩺

Social Life: He gets along with other dogs, but he is definitely a "people person" at heart. He prefers the company of his human companions above all else! 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

Jack’s Ideal Home: Because Jack loves his humans so much, he doesn’t like to be left alone and isn't a fan of enclosed spaces. He is looking for a house (no apartments, please!) with someone who is home most of the time to keep him company.

He is currently working on some resource guarding, but because he is so smart and eager to please, he is making great progress! With a patient owner and a consistent routine, this sweet boy is going to be the most loyal companion you’ve ever had.

Best Gift Ever! 🎁

We have some heart-melting news to share this holiday season! The beautiful Gigi has officially found her forever home! 🐾❤️

While everyone else is busy unwrapping boxes, Gigi’s new family just unwrapped a lifetime of wagging tails and unconditional love. There truly is no better way to celebrate the holidays than by giving a deserving pup a seat at the table (and maybe a spot on the sofa!).

A huge thank you to her adopters for opening their hearts, and to our incredible supporters who make these "Happy Tails" possible. Gigi, we hope your first Christmas in your new home is filled with treats, belly rubs, and plenty of naps by the fire.

Pets aren't presents 🎁 they're responsibilities 😬

Giving a puppy to a loved one sounds exciting, but many animal shelters and rescue organizations report an increased number of animals handed over after the holidays.

Before surprising someone with an animal as a gift, talk to them and be sure they are prepared to take on the responsibility of being a pet owner. The recipient may be unprepared, or the gifted pet may not be a good fit for their home. There are many considerations to make before adopting a pet: the type of pet, home readiness, ability to provide proper care, and cost, to name a few.

🎄🎁Are you ready for the holidays? Bambi sure is!

This 20 pound, 8 yr old chihuahua mix is a well behaved, potty trained sweetheart. Bambi loves to be close - she loves to burrow under your covers or sit right beside you on the couch. She really is an excellent dog for a family that doesn't want to train a puppy. Fill out an application if you want to meet her!

They have helped take care of them, clean up after them and play with all the dogs that have come through our home. They've learned responsibility and how to say goodbye." - from one of our volunteers. ❤️

💜🐾 Here's a sneak peak at a couple new members of the Haven pack! Meet Snoop Dog and PJ! PJ is an adorable, sweet young lady. She's only 1 years old and around 9 lbs, but willing to learn! Snoop is a 4 lb special senior (13 years old) who just wants to live out his days on somebody's lap.
