Here is the next video in our series on the Stepps to raising quality meat rabbits.

In our last video we showed how we get rabbits bred and some of the steps involved.

Today we fast forward to a doe we just placed a nesting box in 10 minutes or so before we filmed this video. It shows her getting in there and setting the box how she wants for the start of her nest.

Also, we explain a little tip on how we keep track of 40-50 brood does that have litters at all times of year.

Tonight we are going to launch an informative series on the “Stepps” to raising quality meat rabbits. The first video is showing taking a doe to a buck and helping her along to get her bred.

More videos will be posted on the next “Stepps” of the process. These videos are meant to give a basic understanding to someone looking to raise rabbits as a beginner. Also, if you’ve been raising rabbits for years we encourage you to watch too we may be able to give you a new perspective.

I hope you enjoy them and look forward to hearing questions and tips from other experienced breeders. Our goal is to educate as many 4-H youth as possible.

A Stepp Above Rabbitry finished up the Ohio county fair market rabbit season yesterday at the Fairfield County Fair. Thank you to all of this year's customers!

The Fairfield County Fair is where we got our start in showing rabbits and it is great to be a breeder to support the program that we learned so much from.

We are proud of all the Fair exhibitors who purchased rabbits from us. In total our customers received the following awards.

Roasters:
Grand Champion
Reserve Champion
5th , 8th, 9th overall
4 out of 6 Division Champions
1 Reserve Division Champion
11 first place heat winners
6 second place in heat
6 third in heat

Fryers:
Reserve Champion
9th over all
2 out of 7 Division Champions
6 First place heat winners
2 second place in heat
4 third in heat

A big congratulations to Jaiden Hammer on winning Grand Champion breeding rabbit at the Muskingum County Fair . She got this doe from us and made it the best version of itself. Her sister Myleigh was the overall second place New Zealand as well. A great night for the Hammer family!

Pickaway County Fair is next week and the first fair in Ohio fair season. We wanted to share a video to give youth an idea of what to expect for rabbit showmanship! We encourage all youth to participate in showmanship to learn how to best care for your animals and to learn more about your animals!

Hi folks,

Hard to believe Pickaway county rabbit pick up is coming so soon!

We are going to have some openings between the 11th and 15th. We will be available after 430 any of those evenings. Please reach out to schedule a time to meet up. I’ll try to space folks out every few minutes that way if anyone has questions they can ask.
