📣🐾Please keep sharing information as all partners work to reunite as many dogs with their original families. Anchorage Animal Care and Control was caught up today with connecting dogs with fosters, but said that they do expect another flight full of dogs soon🐶 So, again be patient as we try to contact people who have put in an application to foster with dogs that fit the abilities that each listed re: small vs big dog, male vs female, shorter stay vs unknown length. ♥️🐾🙌

🐾Again… reminding people it take a dog time to adjust to a new home. 🏡 please be patient and learn the dog’s language not force him or her to know yours and be perfect on day one.

Let’s Talk Expectations....

With the holidays coming, so many rescue dogs are wishing for forever homes.
Can you make that happen? We would love nothing more.

BUT FIRST, let’s have an important talk.

When you bring home a new dog, especially a rescue, there will always be a gap between what you imagined and how things actually go.

Sometimes it’s just small things you adjust to.

Other times, it’s big things that make you stop and wonder, “Is this how it’s going to be forever?”

Take a breath.
Then take a look through your dog’s eyes.

Change is hard on anyone, but even harder on a rescue dog.
And if we’re being honest, harder still on a husky.

Patience is everything.
Trust takes time.
Love takes consistency.

If you’ve adopted a dog, we’d love to hear your expectation vs reality moments. Big or small.

📣Mr. Blue-eyed Duke is looking for a new foster or better yet adopter⁉️ Can you help⁉️ He is a big strong boy who love his toys but doesn’t want to share them. He will get along with others when no toys are around, but he’s proving to be too boisterous for the resident canine in his current foster home. He also appears to want to chase cats, so better in a home w none. He does have great recall once he feels how much you love him ♥️ Help us find Duke a good match. 🤞

🎉Thank you Charity for fostering our big blue-eyed boy Duke‼️ And Karen for recruiting fosters for us. 🎉 Duke is a former Anchorage Animal Care and Control hold over since September. 😕 We “broke him out” when Best Friends Animal Society asked us to help knowing Typhoon 🌀 Halong dogs from Western Alaska would be heading to AACC. This sweet big boy is available for adoption from us. ♥️ He loves squeaky toys but they need to be durable as he loves to shred the softer ones. 😳🤭 He doesn’t eat them but they don’t last long. 🤦🏽‍♀️
