This sweet little kitten was found and brought to us today! We’re worried this little kitty belongs to someone and would really like to get them home!!

It will be staying with one of our staff tonight to make sure we are safe! Don’t worry, they’re getting plenty of snuggles and attention! 🐾💘

✨🐾 Patient Spotlight: Twilight 🌙 🐾✨

Some patients leave paw prints on our hearts forever, and sweet Twilight is one of them. 💜

Twilight is a 1-year-old mama kitty who came to our clinic yesterday morning in critical condition. She was nearly flat and unresponsive, running a 104.3°F fever, and open-mouth breathing—a very serious and abnormal sign in cats. Our team immediately placed her on oxygen therapy, started IV fluids, and administered medications to help control potential neurological activity.

Despite our best efforts, Twilight wasn't responding the way we had hoped. As her condition remained grave, we began preparing for the possibility of helping her peacefully cross the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈💔

Wanting to give her one final comfort, we offered her a Churu as a parting gift.

And then...

✨ Twilight surprised us all. ✨

She lifted her head and enthusiastically devoured the entire Churu!

While she was still extremely critical, that tiny spark gave us hope. We decided Twilight deserved another chance, and she fought for every bit of it.

The next several hours were filled with ups and downs. Twilight drifted in and out of consciousness and even began showing signs of another neurological episode, including open-mouth breathing. Throughout it all, she remained hospitalized on IV fluids with added calcium, under close monitoring by our team.

And one thing was abundantly clear:

🍽️ Twilight was hungry.

Every meal we offered was met with enthusiasm, determination, and a reminder that she wasn't ready to give up.

This morning, Twilight was able to go home. 🏡💜

While we still don't have all the answers, we're incredibly grateful for the chance to be part of her journey. Cases like Twilight's remind us why we do what we do. They inspire us to keep fighting alongside our patients, even when the odds seem impossible.

Oh, and did we mention?

🐱💕 Twilight is a mama with babies waiting for her at home.

🌙✨ Sometimes hope comes in the form of a tiny cat, a determined spirit, and a tube of Churu. ✨🌙

We'd also like to thank INABA Premium Cat & Dog Treats for creating the snack that sparked Twilight's fighting spirit when we needed it most. While we can't officially prescribe Churu as a miracle cure, Twilight certainly made a compelling argument. 😸💜

🦠 Brucellosis in Cattle 🐄

Brucellosis is a contagious bacterial disease caused by *Brucella abortus* that primarily affects cattle and other livestock. It is an important disease in veterinary medicine because it impacts reproduction, herd health, and public health.

One of the most common signs of brucellosis in cattle is abortion during the second half of pregnancy, often around 7 months gestation. Infected cattle may also experience:
▪️ Retained placentas
▪️ Stillborn or weak calves
▪️ Reduced milk production
▪️ Infertility and reproductive losses

The bacteria are commonly spread through contact with infected birth fluids, placentas, aborted fetuses, and contaminated environments. Because of this, calving and abortion events should always be handled carefully with proper sanitation and protective equipment.

Brucellosis is also considered a zoonotic disease, meaning humans can become infected through exposure to infected animals or contaminated raw milk products. Farmers, ranchers, veterinarians, and animal handlers are especially at risk.

Control and prevention are extremely important and may include:
✔️ Vaccination programs
✔️ Routine herd testing
✔️ Proper biosecurity measures
✔️ Careful handling and disposal of reproductive tissues
✔️ Avoiding consumption of unpasteurized dairy products

Thanks to testing and vaccination programs, brucellosis has become much less common in the United States — but continued awareness and prevention remain essential for protecting both livestock and people. 🐾

Tiny puppies still need BIG adventures! 🌎✨

Socialization is one of the most important parts of raising a confident, happy puppy — especially for small breeds. Early positive experiences can help prevent fear and anxiety later in life. 🐶💚

Good socialization can include:
🐾 Meeting new people
🐾 Exploring new places
🐾 Hearing everyday sounds
🐾 Walking on different surfaces
🐾 Positive interactions with other pets

The key? Keep it positive and never force interactions. Small puppies can get overwhelmed quickly, so letting them explore at their own pace builds confidence safely. ✨

⚠️ Important reminder:
Young puppies are still very vulnerable to diseases like parvovirus until they’ve completed their full puppy vaccine series. While socialization is important, outdoor interactions should still be limited until your puppy has received all 3 rounds of vaccines and your veterinarian says it’s safe. 🩺

Safe socialization can still happen through:
✔️ Being carried in public
✔️ Meeting vaccinated pets you trust
✔️ Experiencing new sights and sounds safely at home

A little confidence goes a long way for those tiny paws. 🐾
