I took Maverick for a walk in the park yesterday now that his wounds are healed. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I imagined it going smooth since he’s been so stoic since he got here. At first, he didn’t want to get out of the car. At second, he still didn’t want to get out of the car. lol When he finally did get out his tail was tucked and he would leave my side. He was on a 20 foot long line but he did not explore. It was interesting to see. So I decided to sit on the grass with him and just let him soak it in. I think he appreciated that. Everything is new to him so we are both learning about his strength and challenges . But at the end of the day I believe this guy to be a great pet sooner than later!

Elsa came to us last night to theal after her spay. And just like the other pups they had an extremely hard first night. But Elsa struggled a lot. She had just gotten spayed and then had to stay somewhere she’s never been with someone she never met. No matter how comfortable I tried to make her, she howled and cried for about 7 hours on and off. Mostly on. lol. So I put on some noise cancelling ear buds and pulled up the camera on my phone so I could see that she was ok. Eventually she settled down but there was no technique. Unless you count patience as a technique. Then that was my technique. lol Elsa woke up this morning just untrusting of me as she had been the night before. Lol But the goal is to give her a safe place to heal and you don’t have to be friends to do that. Thanks for trusting us with her Jacqueline Piñol The Canine Condition

Your average adult needs 7-9 hours of sleep to function optimally . Your dog needs twice that amount. If you’re looking for a starting point to train your dog, teach them to rest in the house. If they’re following you every time you move, they aren’t resting. And if they aren’t resting, they will be more resistant to any other behaviors you’re trying to teach them. Start with rest.
