Goats are the cutest. We all love to get snuck cookies when no one else is looking. Help keep the kiddos fed. Your gift today makes a difference for them. If you like our rescued kiddos please support them by making sure they have enough to eat. A bale is 15, a bag of feed 20, but no gift is too small. ••• I love watching and listening to Noah eat. When he’s not stuffing his face, he’s bleating. Sometimes I pretend not to hear him so he’ll go graze. He’s such a lovely boy. Because he’s a senior now, he gets a Timothy mash with supplements to keep him healthy because senior farm animals have fragile immune systems. Sadly, there aren’t a lot of research on senior healthcare for farmed animals. That’s because most of them don’t reach 3 years of age. There is nothing better or more sweet than watching a farmed animal just be happy, loved, and safe.

Someone should write a childrens book called “everybody farts, but horses fart louder.” Did you know that when horses feel silly and run playfully, they fart? It’s funny. Corvette and Jovi are actual brothers. When this family of horses came to live here in 2018, Jovi was only 3 months old. It’s rare for horse families to stay together for a lifetime, but keeping families together is a sanctuary specialty. Obviously, the siblings are so happy to have each other. Everyone has something about them that’s adorable. You find it out unexpectedly. You take it in fully of delight at having discovered the cuteness of it. And the afterthought of “I should’ve filmed that” chimes in. I love sharing their cute moments. It’s exactly how they should be consumed, instead of body parts. This is big boy Gambino, rescued as a baby with his mama in 2018.

What she’s eating may look gross to you but for Bob, it’s so delicious. The difference between what Bob is eating is that many humans buy their eggs from grocery stores laid by unhappy, imprisoned hens. Bob’s egg came from one of her chicken friends who naturally lays eggs. These eggs get fed back to them or the pigs or guardians. The chickens aren’t fed supplements that double their egg production. The chickens don’t live in a 12” cage their whole lives. No humans here are eating or selling the eggs. There is no forcing or obligation for the chickens to lay eggs for profit. Consider the happiness of a chicken or turkey who just gets to exist, enjoy sunny days, and play with their friends. Now consider the lives of the chickens and chickens who laid eggs when you go to a grocery store.

Are you done with winter? All the farmed animals grow thicker fur or feathers. Some animals drop feathers and fur just as seasons change. Not all animals do it at the same time. Ginny and her sister Hermione grew a fur coat then shed it then grew it again because the weather was mainly warm this winter and got really cold only a few days. Even though it stayed mostly warm, they are just now shedding the last bits. Some animals shed early and others finish well past June. It’s probably just the Texas weather. There were a lot of mixed signals for the animals like laying eggs and surging hormones.
