The beautiful thing about rescue is the love and devotion we get from our dogs.

Even when they haven’t seen us for a bit - they never forget those who walked them - loved them and made them feel welcome when they were at their lowest.

Happy National Cat Day 🐈🐈🐱🐱🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

Our cats Baxter, Dixon, Spicey and Felix - these 4 have been with us since they were tiny kittens!!

They are now 2 years old and still looking for a home.
They have been lovingly cared for in the same foster home and are to happy together to split them up!!
Please consider adopting not one cat but 2 !!!

We kept Rosalyn calm and safe for a year - we gave her plenty of time to decompress and get over her fear because in the end Rosalyn is what so many dogs are after a shelter stay - scared.

We moved Rosalyn because she lost her foster home and now we are seeing just who she is. Perhaps we waited too long to bring her closer to us.

We can only move forward and that’s what we are doing!! Rosalyn is going to be a wonderful, loving companion for a very lucky family.

The guarding issues that got her in trouble don’t exist when she is comfortable with her surroundings and people.

Her beautiful blue eyes have betrayed her too - she has that very serious husky stare even when she plays.
We get it - she is hard to understand - but once you do - you will she the true beauty in her soul❤️❤️

Take a chance on a dog like Roz - she will be loving and loyal forever more❤️❤️

Rest in Peace Beautiful Sandy ❤️🌈

When we took Sandy home in January of 2025 we knew almost immediately that she would be a part of our hospice program.

This sweet senior was abandoned at the shelter when her mom went into the hospital. We found her shaking in her run and knew we couldn’t leave her.

Sandy battled skin infections, ear infections, kidney disease, cushings and had thyroid issues.
Sandy was a regular at Rockaway Animal Hospital brought there sometimes twice a month by her devoted foster mom.

We found that with regular veterinary care and lots of love -Sandy was enjoying her life and happy as could be. In fact it was that happiness that pushed her to continue. We believe she was finally enjoying her life and she didn’t want to let it go.

This morning we sat with Sandy giving her chocolate kisses and plenty of human kisses too. We made the very difficult decision to let her go peacefully when her legs could no longer hold her.

We thank our veterinarians at Rockaway Animal Hospital because they have loved her right along with us and it was difficult for them to say goodbye.

One of the doctors had the most comforting words for all of us - she came to us unloved and uncared for and she left the world looking like a dog who was always loved and cared for-

For us that will always be enough - a shelter dog that was given a second chance and leaves the earth as part of a family ❤️❤️

We thank her foster mom and dad for loving her and making her a part of their pack- for the many hours at the vet and the baths etc etc etc
They always take the special seniors and their hearts break each time❤️❤️

We also thank all who donate and support our hospice program - because it is through you that we are able to help dogs just like Sandy ❤️
We are just heartbroken
Run free without pain baby girl ❤️❤️

Remembering all of our precious pets 🌈❤️

Some loved ones may no longer be beside us, but they are never forgotten. 🕯️🤍

As we remember our beloved pets this Day of the Dead, we honor the little lives that became part of our families, filled our homes with love, and left memories that stay with us long after goodbye.

Today, we remember every dog, cat, and companion who will always have a place in our hearts.

For the pets we loved. For the memories we keep. For the love that remains. 🌈
