Location: Vetted Pet Program at Riverbend Pet Center (Overseen by State Ave Veterinary Hospital)
Position Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Pay: Commission type based.
Position Overview
Riverbend Pet Center is seeking a skilled and motivated Professional Pet Groomer to join our team as an independent contractor. This is a great opportunity for a self-driven groomer looking to operate their own business within an established and growing facility supported by a veterinary hospital.
This role is structured as a space rental/commission-based position, allowing flexibility and independence while benefiting from an existing client base and facility support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional grooming services including bathing, haircuts, nail trims, and breed-specific styling
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized grooming workspace
Ensure all animals are handled with care, patience, and safety
Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding grooming needs, expectations, and outcomes
Manage your own grooming schedule and appointments
Build and maintain your own clientele
Compensation & Structure
This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position
Groomer receives 50% commission on services performed
Alternative payment or rental options may be discussed during the interview process
Groomer is responsible for their own tools, equipment maintenance, and sharpening
Qualifications
Prior professional grooming experience required
Ability to groom a variety of breeds and coat types
Strong animal handling skills and knowledge of grooming safety practices
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Facility & Support
Work within an established pet care facility connected to a veterinary hospital
Access to a steady flow of potential clients through Riverbend Pet Center and State Ave Veterinary Hospital
Collaborative environment with boarding, day play, and veterinary teams
Additional Expectations
Groomers are responsible for managing their own clientele and scheduling
Must maintain professionalism and adhere to facility policies and safety standards
Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent schedule
