Cosmo is waiting to see Dr. Sue for his next round of kitten vaccines 💉
Vaccines are like a superhero shield for your kitten, protecting them from nasty diseases! They work by introducing a weakened or inactive version of the disease to your kitten's body, which then stimulates their immune system to produce antibodies. These antibodies are like little soldiers that recognize and fight off the disease if your kitten ever encounters it in the future.
Kittens typically receive a series of vaccinations starting around 6-8 weeks old, with boosters given every few weeks until they're about 16 weeks old. These vaccines protect against common kitten diseases like feline distemper, feline calicivirus, and feline herpesvirus.
After the initial kitten series, booster shots are usually needed periodically throughout their life to maintain immunity. 🐾
