It’s almost time for the trick-or-treaters to start parading around the neighborhood!
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Keep all candy away from your pets. A lot of candy contains xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
2. Do have the number for your emergency vet handy so you can call if your pet gets into mischief and decides to devour something sweet but deadly.
3. Do provide your dog with a safe place to spend a few hours, as they may not love a bunch of creepy, crawly, scary children ringing the doorbell.
4. Don’t make them participate in handing out candy if they get stressed by a lot of people coming and going.
5. Dress your dog up if they don’t mind wearing an outfit and love having visitors. Just remember to make sure they aren’t runners or escape artists, as they could bolt out the open door.
6. Opt out of dressing them up if they don’t love wearing outfits or clothing, as it can be uncomfortable and cause unnecessary stress.
