Our Moose Man…

When he was first found, he was scared, unsure of the world around him, and lacked the confidence he needed to feel safe. Through no fault of his own, he had been dumped and left behind, facing an uncertain future. Thankfully, all of you, rallied around him, following his journey and cheering him on every step of the way.

To help him overcome his fears, he entered Route 20 Dog Training where he was given the patience, structure, and encouragement he needed to begin trusting again. Day by day, his confidence grew, and the dog we always knew was there started to shine through. Thank you Sarah!

Today, we are thrilled to share that this special boy has found his forever home with none other than the owner of the property he was found at.

As an added blessing, Sarah generously made a donation back to Friends of Charlton Animal Shelter helping them continue to save dogs just like him. Thank you to everyone who followed his story and believed in him.

We wish we could make multiples of Moose and other dogs that come into our care for everyone to love.

Happy Thursday!

An update on the most recent dog that was dumped on the Mass Pike, who we have discovered his name, “Boss.”

We brought Boss to the vet for alleged evidence of trauma to his head, where we discovered that he has old skull fractures, red flag of abuse to the head. Despite all of this, he is adapting and such a good boy.

While we are still investigating the incident, he has been happily placed with the State Trooper who found him, and is living his best life.

We always hope that an investigation is successful and the person is held responsible, but in the end, we hope the dog is living a better life.

✨ Moose Update ✨

We saved Moose from being outdoors on his own for 19 days after an act of cruelty, abandonment, where he was emaciated, covered in ticks, the obvious - poor nutrition, as well as the unknown, from no fault of his own.

We have had a lot of people reach out about Moose and his progress, or how they can help. Moose has come a long way, gaining weight, becoming more confident, and thankful he is where he is, with a lot of love to give.

We’re excited to share that Moose has started 6 week board and train with Route 20 Dog Training to build his confidence and excel in all aspects of life. He’s already exceeded our expectations with the few days he’s been there, but so ready and eager to learn. Please follow Sara for all the updates on Moose. Thank you to Ralph Nichols - property owner where Moose was found for always stepping in when the help is needed, and Sara for diving into Moose’s journey.

Missy's Doggy Day Spa, we will always be grateful for your support and readiness to jump right in last minute when an animal is in need.

Last, Friends of Charlton Animal Shelter - the backbone, to helping the animals that come through the kennel, that need vet care, basic care, food, and everything in between - without their support, a lot wouldn’t be possible, and without your donations, a lot wouldn’t be possible. So thank you to everyone who supports them to be able to support us!

But not least, our volunteers, who show up and treat the animals like their own 🐾
