Congratulations to our newest Puppy Kindergarten graduates! 🐾🎉

These pups spent the past few weeks building confidence, learning how to focus, developing social skills, and discovering that paying attention to their humans can be pretty rewarding.

Puppy Kindergarten is where the foundation for a well-behaved family dog begins. From learning how to navigate new experiences to practicing good manners and engagement, these puppies have come a long way since their first class.

A huge shoutout to the owners who put in the time and practice at home. Training is a team effort, and the progress these puppies made is a direct result of that commitment.

Great job, graduates—we can't wait to see you in Obedience Level 1! 🐶👏

💡 Quick tip: Jumping is often rewarded without us realizing it. If your dog jumps up and gets attention—even if you're saying "off"—the behavior is still paying off. To reduce jumping, reward your dog for keeping four paws on the floor before they have a chance to jump.

🎉 Julie Blanding & Dim Sum

A big non-competition win for Julie and Dim Sum!

Dim Sum was able to walk into her second acupuncture appointment without any pre-chill meds—a huge milestone considering the health challenges she’s faced.

With all of that, it’s completely understandable that both Julie and Dim Sum have experienced stress and anxiety. Through their work in Donna’s Sport OB / Level 3 Obedience classes, they’ve built skills to navigate tight spaces calmly and regulate those emotions together.

This is what training is all about—real-life success and a stronger partnership.

🎉 Dianne Barrett & Bert

Bert had an excellent week in St. Louis competing at the United States Australian Shepherd Association Specialty across agility, rally, and obedience.

In agility, they had some nice qualifying runs along with a few near misses—valuable learning experiences as this team continues to grow together.

Rally proved challenging in the large venue, but they still earned qualifying scores.

Obedience is where they truly shined. Bert competed in both Open A and Preferred Open, winning his Preferred Open class both days and earning High in Trial Preferred both days. He also picked up a leg in Open A with a 3rd place finish.

An impressive showing across multiple venues and a great example of teamwork and dedication. Great work, Dianne and Bert!

🎉 Dr. Kristine Sklenak, Kyta & Fizz

It’s been a busy and successful stretch in scent work for Kyta and Fizz!

At the USCSS trial held at the New England Air Museum, both dogs had strong performances. Fizz qualified in 5 out of 6 searches, placed in 3 classes, and earned his Novice Vehicles title. Kyta went 5 for 5, earning placement ribbons in 4 classes and a new title in Senior Interiors.

Fizz continued the momentum with two AKC trial weekends. At the Cape Cod Kennel Club, he went 4 for 4, placed in 2 searches, and finished 3rd overall out of 54 Novice entries. At the Great Barrington Kennel Club, he qualified in 4 searches and earned 4th place in Handler Discrimination.

Kyta also competed at a NACSW trial at LaBelle Winery. While it was a more challenging day, the team enjoyed the experience and kept their points—now closing in on an Elite Champion title.

Lots of progress, titles, and great teamwork. Well done, Kristine, Kyta, and Fizz!

🎉 Joyce Gauthier & Kismet

April was an incredible month for Joyce and Kismet in scent work!

On April 6, Kismet attended her first USCSS scent work trial, qualifying in all 4 searches with a 1st place finish and two 2nd place placements.

They kept the momentum going on April 12 at a mock trial, where Kizzy was on fire—finding every hide in under 6 seconds, placing 1st in all four searches, and earning High in Trial for novice teams.

On April 18, they competed at the Great Barrington Kennel Club AKC scent work trial, where Kismet qualified in all 5 classes, earned two 1st place finishes, and achieved her first titles (Novice Containers and Novice Buried).

To top it off, Kismet was the only dog to qualify in Novice A Handler Discrimination, earning the High in Trial Combined ribbon for Novice A—a huge accomplishment in a challenging class where she had to identify her handler’s scent.

Kismet continues to impress with her drive, focus, and enthusiasm for the sport. Great work, Joyce and Kismet!
