And now to introduce Bak, a 24-year-old Gypsy Vanner who has lived a dozen lives. Originally imported from the UK in 2008, that was just the beginning of his journey. Over the years he found himself in multiple homes and he eventually ended up in the wrong hands, where he was severely neglected. He was in such horrible shape when he arrived at SSRR, they weren’t sure if he’d pull through.
Bak was there for almost two years. Not only did he require extensive rehab but he also has f***l water syndrome and he doesn’t sweat regularly (anhidrosis) which can be dangerous and hard to manage, especially in the FL heat. These things made it challenging to find the perfect home for him and he deserves nothing less!
During Preacher’s time at SSRR, he and Bak became quite fond of each other. Initially, only Preacher was coming to FCRR but after several conversations about Bak’s needs (and their bromance) we made the decision to keep them together. We know how special this boy is to many, many people and after two years. We can only imagine how hard it was to let him go and we’re honored to have him.
Despite everything he’s endured, Bak remains remarkably confident, trusting, and easygoing. He settled right in and hasn’t missed a beat. He’s also been a source of comfort for Preacher and I’m really glad they’re together. How lucky are we to love these boys through their golden years?!?
