FOSTER NEEDED 🤞
This 6-year-old girl was due to be euthanized by her owner on Friday, because she is HW+.

Let that sink in.

She didn’t make herself HW+.

She didn’t cause the neglect.

All she’s done is give loving kisses, paw and live the best life she could under all circumstances thrown her way.

Well Friday wasn’t her last day.

In fact, it’s become her new day.

This sweet girl, is now safe in boarding with our trusted partner BUT needs a foster to complete the next chapter.

We will get her groomed.

We will get her much needed TLC.

We will get her on her heart-WORM free journey.

🎃NO TRICKS, JUST TREATS…
MEET KARO!
Apparently, Karo’s sisters were the main characters. They stole the spotlight, found their forever families, and left their poor brother behind!

But don’t feel TOO sorry for him.

At just 2 months old, Karo is already proving to be the more laid-back sibling. While his sisters were busy causing a little girl drama, Karo was just trying to enjoy some peace and quiet.

And now that the girlies have moved out? He’s living his best bachelor life.

His mama is believed to be a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix, so we expect Karo to grow into one handsome boy. Although, let’s be serious… he’s already got that covered!

The only thing spooky about Karo’s story is that he’s STILL waiting for a family! 👻

His sisters got their happy endings. Now it’s his turn!

Come on, people. Nobody this handsome should be spending Halloween without a family to call his own! 🧡

MEET BEAU! 💙
One of our newest arrivals, and we’re pretty sure if you looked up the word sweet in the dictionary, you’d find Beau’s picture.

At just 5 months old and 33 lbs, Beau is one seriously lovable little guy!

He’s confident, friendly, wonderfully well-adjusted, and absolutely LOVES being around his people. If there’s a hand available for petting, Beau would like to volunteer his head. 😀

He’s great with other dogs, surprisingly quiet for a puppy, and just an all-around easygoing little gentleman.

No drama. No fuss. Just a happy, confident puppy who loves everyone and thinks being loved on is the greatest thing in the world.

Did we mention he’s sweet? Because seriously. SO sweet.

MEET OTIS! ❤️
Ten years old. 61 pounds. Formerly known as Hamlet, this sweet senior was facing euthanasia until one foster said YES.

And just like that, Otis got a second chance.

Now, at 10 years young, Otis is settling into foster life and showing us that his retirement plans are pretty simple.

Find a sunny spot.
Bring a bone.
Roll around in the grass.
Never miss a meal.
Repeat.

Otis is a wonderfully mellow, easygoing gentleman who seems to have mastered the art of doing absolutely nothing and enjoying every minute of it.

He’s house-trained, dog-friendly, and loves people! He’ll happily enjoy a little playtime with another dog before deciding he’s had enough excitement for one day and returning to his regularly scheduled lounging.

He’s affectionate without being clingy, rarely barks, and is perfectly content relaxing on the couch while you go about your day.

Unless you’re in the kitchen.

Then suddenly, you have a 61-pound sous-chef.

Otis is still putting on some much-needed weight, and we’re learning more about him every day. But so far? He’s been an absolute sweetheart and a remarkably easy houseguest.

He doesn’t need constant entertainment, endless exercise, or a packed social calendar.

He just needs someone who will love him for the rest of his life.

At 10 years old, Otis shouldn’t have to worry about running out of time again.

Someone gave him the chance to grow old.

Now we’re looking for someone who will make those golden years his very best. ❤️

Let’s find this sweet old soul his forever spot in the sun. 🐾

SOMETIMES IT NEVER GOES AS PLANNED ❤️‍🩹
What are we even saying. Rescue is as hot, cold unpredictable and inconsistent as a fashion style, a high school crush or a boy band in the 90’s. IYKYK.

Last week we planned, plotted, networked, and deployed volunteers to end the week saving 50 lives. It wasn’t planned to perfection, hell it was just like an Oprah show. Every time we closed the books, another rescue partner said give us more.

We started counting. It was to be 50 lives leaving for rescue in SC to go north. 🫣😳

Then sickness started. Kennel Cough, Upper respiratory, parasites and ringworm all halted health certificates. Some didn’t have the vaccines to travel.

Then, then, then. Emergencies. Issues outside our control. It. didn’t. stop.

It wasn’t the best week. It wasn’t our best work.

BUT we didn’t leave them behind.

They didn’t go north. YET.

They came to casa de Journey Home. They came to foster’s and to boarding. They came to us.

16 dogs saw our vet over the weekend. Some already got altered since arriving. 3 remain in boarding. WE NEED FOSTERS. WE NEED MEDICAL DONATIONS.

From puppies to seniors. Welcome to your next chapter. And we promise it to be a good one. 💗

SOMEBODY FED THE GREMLINS AFTER MIDNIGHT. 🎃
And now we have FOUR of them.

Tiny legs. Ridiculous underbites. Questionable dental alignment. Absolutely ZERO business being this cute.

Meet our newest arrivals! These four Jack Russell-ish little gremlins are estimated to be 4–5 months old (possibly a little older), weigh around 15 lbs.

They’re funny, friendly, full of personality, and pretty much impossible to be around without laughing.

Three boys and one girl (Patches!) make up this tiny gang, and all four were spayed or neutered this morning!

Adoption fee: $400 each, which includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, microchip, and vaccines.

We can’t guarantee what happens if you get them wet, but we’re pretty sure you’ll fall in love.

URGENT FOSTER NEEDED
MOMMA & 6 NEWBORNS! 🚨
Yesterday, a stray momma gave birth to SIX tiny puppies at the Lexington shelter. 💔

Instead of welcoming her babies into the safety and comfort of a home, this sweet girl is trying to care for them in a shelter.

A shelter is NO place for newborn puppies. These babies are incredibly vulnerable, and momma needs a quiet, safe space to nurse and care for them.

Momma is approximately 3 years old, heartworm negative, and has SIX brand-new little lives depending on her.

We desperately need ONE foster willing to take in this entire little family!

Momma will do the hard work of caring for her babies. We just need someone willing to give her a safe place to do it.

WHAT A FUN DAY AT BARK IN THE PARK! 🐾
A huge thank you to The Daniel Island News for having us join the fun today!

We met so many wonderful people, enjoyed catching up with familiar faces, and loved spending the day with our amazing volunteers and some of our adorable adoptable pups!

One of our favorite things about these events is watching our dogs enjoy themselves just as much as we do! They all get along so well, and seeing them play, make new friends, soak up attention, and experience the world outside their foster homes is such a treat.

We really have a GREAT group of dogs in our rescue right now, and we’re hoping a few of today’s introductions turn into forever homes! We’ve already had some adoption interest and applications coming in, so fingers crossed! 🤞

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, loved on our pups, chatted with us, or showed an interest in adopting. And an extra big thank you to our volunteers and fosters who make days like this possible!

Good people, great dogs, and a whole lot of puppy love. Doesn’t get much better than that! 🐾
