I have not so patiently waited for an egg from Abilene for WEEKS since I paired her with Crumpet. Shes an old lady now, around 5/6 years old, so laying isn't super reliable anymore.

Well today my sweet girl had a perfect little egg in her nest box, and she had collapsed from heat exhaustion next to it. She has been taken into the house, cool water dipped and is recovering in the bathroom.

This is the second heat related sickness we've had this year. The first, being our Mauve Splash boy whom had a heat stroke and miraculously made a full recovery.

If you're the praying kind, please send us all the prayers, good vibes, love and healing for Mama Abilene and all these feather babies as we do our best to stay cool. This weather has got to break sometime 💔

Hey guys! Its pretty damn miserable outside today. We're looking at 106° real feels with high humidity and a UV index that should be criminal.

All that to say, listen to your body. Take breaks, hydrate, get in those electrolytes. Keep outside jobs to the bare minimum. After all, who's going to do everything you do... if you're laid up in the hospital, or worse. This heat is no joke and exhaustion or heat stroke can slip up quick.

Take care of yourselves so you can continue to take care of others. 🫶🏼

Due to the insufferable heat we are now experiencing; all shipping has halted until we cool down. No one wants a box of fried eggs.
