That little notch on a cat’s ear? It means someone cared enough. 🩵
They cared enough to spend hours setting traps, waiting, checking, and resetting until they trap them. Cared enough to get that cat to a vet for spay or neuter surgery, vaccines, and flea treatment. They gave them a warm place to recover. Made sure they healed. And then brought them back home, because that’s where they belong.
Ear tipping is a universal sign that a community cat has already been fixed and doesn’t need to go through the stress of being trapped again. It prevents unnecessary surgery, reduces overpopulation, stops the cycle of suffering, and protects cats from disease, fights, and endless litters.
And if you see an indoor cat with a tipped ear? Or a cat up for adoption with a tipped ear? Someone cared a little extra. They saw potential in a cat who’d lived a hard life and gave them a chance to thrive in a home. They helped them overcome fear and find safety, comfort, and love beyond the streets.
It might look like a small thing, but that ear tip is a big deal. It means someone gave their time, their money, and their heart to make life better for that cat.

Today is Tortoiseshell Cat Appreciation Day, and we sure do love every fabulous tortie who’s crossed our path!🩵😻
Pictured is Walleye Lovebug. She’s a dilute tortie, which means her coat features the classic tortoiseshell marble of colors, but in soft, pastel shades like gray, cream, and light orange instead of the usual bold black and ginger tones.
Fun fact: Almost all tortoiseshell cats are female due to genetics tied to the X chromosome, making them extra special!
And while torties have a reputation for torti-tude (that tortie sass!), Walleye is a total sweetheart. She’s a purring, cuddly lovebug who just wants to be near her humans.
Could today be the perfect day for Walleye to find her forever home?
Tax Day just passed… but it’s never too early to plan for next year!💰🐱💗
If you’re looking to give back more in 2025, consider making a tax-deductible donation to Saving One Life.
What does “tax-deductible” mean?
When you donate to a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit like us, you can subtract that amount from your taxable income, which may reduce the amount you owe in taxes next April.
How does it help?
• YOU get a potential tax break
• WE get the resources to save more animals in need
• TOGETHER we make a life-saving difference
Your donations help cover vet care, food, medication, and supplies for hundreds of cats and kittens each year. And with kitten season in full swing, we need your support more than ever.
Make a difference now and reap the benefits next tax season. You can donate via this post or via our website linked in our bio!

Meet Orion Brightwish💫💙
Rescued from a struggling colony where our team has saved nearly 20 cats and kittens and TNR’d over 15 more, Orion is one of our bravest success stories. From the day we brought him inside, we knew he wanted to love humans—he just didn’t know how yet. He was scared, unsure, and guarded. But with time, patience, and kindness, he’s learning to trust and discovering how good love can feel.
Orion is a cat’s cat, if your kitty needs a playful, loyal companion, he’s the one. He’s full of energy and curiosity, loves wand toys, is food-motivated, and never says no to a Churu squeezy treat. If you’re willing to be patient and show him the world isn’t so scary, he’ll become the best furry companion for you and your cat(s).
Adoption Update: Cayman & Panamera Porsche🏎️🏁😻
These two lived up to their names in their foster home, zipping through rooms like tiny race cars, always full of energy, mischief, and fun. But even more than their speed, what stood out was their bond. They did everything together, from wrestling matches to nap time snuggles.
Now in their forever home, their adopter says they are fully settled in with their other cats and dogs, cuddly as ever, and total purr machines. She said she’s fostered before and never met any kitties like these two and we couldn’t agree more. We’re so happy to see this duo thriving and bringing joy to their new family!

We’re looking for foster heroes this kitten season, because the truth is, we can’t do this without you.🐾❤️
Every spring, shelters and rescues are overwhelmed with kittens who have nowhere to go. The number of lives we can save depends entirely on how many foster homes we have open. That’s where you come in.
By opening up a spare room or bathroom in your home for just a few weeks, you can change the course of a kitten’s life or even an entire litter.
Never fostered before? No problem.
You’ll be matched with a dedicated mentor who will walk you through every step and be your personal support system the entire time.
Worried about cost?
We provide all supplies and cover all medical care so you can focus on giving love, safety, and snuggles.
Whether you’ve fostered before or are brand new, we’ll work with you to match kittens to your lifestyle and comfort level.
It’s that time of year and spring cleaning isn’t just for your home, it’s for your pets too!🧽🌼🐶🐱
Here’s your go-to checklist to freshen up your pet, their space, and their gear.
While going through your pet supplies, don’t toss gently used items, donate them to us at Saving One Life or your local rescue to help pets in need!
Which item are you checking off first? Let us know in the comments!

Bean Zee is ready to find her forever!😍
This sweet, playful, and incredibly loving girl has come such a long way. Bean Zee was rescued by us from a shelter on Christmas Eve 2022, because she was dealing with stress-related urinary issues. Sadly, her first adoption didn’t work out. The other pets in the home made her anxious, and that stress brought her symptoms back.
But here’s the good news: since being back in foster care, Bean Zee has had zero litterbox issues whatsoever. She’s relaxed, happy, cuddly, and so easy to love. She follows us around the house, chats with us, and just wants to be near her humans. She’d be wonderful in a quiet home with older kids who know how to respect her space.
Bean Zee is looking for a peaceful, pet-free home where she can finally feel safe and secure for good. We’ve seen how well she does with love and stability, and now she just needs someone to give her that forever.
If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful companion who will give you her whole heart, Bean Zee is your girl.
