Be honest...ARE THESE NOT THE CUTEST PICS YOU'VE EVER SEEN?!? 😍😍😍

Meet Romilda, affectionately known as Romi in her foster home. We got sent the sweetest write-up from her foster, and wanted to share it with you all ❤

Since joining our home in August 2025, Romi has shown us just how loving and affectionate she truly is. If you are looking for a cuddle buddy, she is your girl. She absolutely LOVES giving kisses and will happily remind you with nonstop licks that she adores you. Seriously, personal space is optional with Romi 😂

Romi is a low-to-medium energy pup who enjoys relaxing around the house just as much as she enjoys a good game of fetch...When she is not playing ball or cuddling up next to her people, her favorite activity is finding the perfect sunny spot to bake in the sun. ☀️

She is also incredibly food motivated, which has made training both fun and rewarding. She already knows sit, stay, touch, and place, and is currently working on down and shake. One of our favorite things about her is the adorable little tap dance she does while patiently waiting for her meals. It is impossible not to smile watching her get excited for food time.

She is fully potty trained, crate trained, and non-destructive when left out of the crate. Romi sleeps through the night like a champ, especially when she can relax with the crate door open.

Romi is currently working with a trainer and has already made wonderful progress with both leash reactivity and meeting new people. Because of this, she will need a patient adopter who understands that slow introductions are important for her success and comfort. She can coexist with other dogs when introductions are done carefully and with supervision, and she would likely thrive in a calm home without young children.

She is equal parts sweetheart, cuddle bug, and work-in-progress in all the best ways. Watching her confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding, and she deserves a home that will continue cheering her on while soaking up all the love and kisses she has to offer. 🐾"

Wow. We couldn't have said it better ourselves! To chat with her foster and see if Romi is the right fit for you, click the link below and fill out the 'Connect with My Foster' form. Let's find Romilda's people!

Seniors and puppies are some of the most vulnerable dogs in the shelter environment, and unlike puppies, senior dogs don’t get scooped up overnight.

These are four of the oldest dogs in our shelter, all of whom would love a foster or adoptive home. If you need a low-maintenance, easy-going dog who doesn’t need much to be happy, please consider coming and meeting one of these babies.

Nyssa is estimated to be 11 years old and just under 60 pounds. She can do well with other dogs but, to no surprise, she’s just not overly playful.

Beloom is estimated to be 12 years old, and we have wonderful home notes from his time in foster. He also could do well with other dogs in the right environment, and has done well with children!

Albert is estimated to be 8 years old, and he’s so terrified that he struggles even walking around the shelter. He lights up around other dogs though, and would likely benefit from a furry sibling.

Shaya is estimated to be 9 years old, and is so incredibly sweet. She has not been formerly dog-assessed, but has been completely nonreactive.

We cannot stress enough how vulnerable these babies are here in the shelter. Issues like kennel cough and giardia, among other things, spread so quickly at the shelter, and are particularly difficult for senior dogs to recover from. Getting these dogs out of their kennels and into a home as soon as possible is so, so important.

If you’re interested in meeting one of these babies and talking with our staff about fostering or adoption, please come visit us at 3280 Chamblee Dunwoody Road in Chamblee, GA. Let’s get Nyssa, Beloom, Albert, and Shaya into the loving homes they deserve.

We’re drowning in KITTENS!

We’re just beginning to dip our toes in kitten season, and already, intake is so much higher than it has been in previous years. Our kitten nursery is so full that we have unadoptable, young kittens on the adoption floor, because there just isn’t space.

How can you help? Glad you asked! Our two primary needs at the moment are:

1. Volunteers
2. Fosters

Specifically, every day from 10:30-11:30am, and 5:30-6:30pm, our kitten nursery is in desperate need of more support. Whether you’re comfortable handling the kittens or not, there’s so much for you to help out with.

Edit to add: There is a volunteer orientation process you must go through before assisting. Please check out the link below for more information, or DM us!

https://lifelineanimal.org/volunteer/

The second need is fosters. Once they are of an adoptable age, kittens get placed SO quickly. But right now, they are too young and vulnerable to be adopted out. We need people to take at minimum three kittens, most of whom are already weaned, to help them continue growing and getting strong before they can be adopted. Fostering kittens is a fairly easy process, especially if you have a spare bathroom. They don’t need much to thrive!

And if you’re more interested in full-grown, adult cats, that’s okay too! We have plenty of those available as well, and they also are in need of volunteers and fosters.

If you’re interested in learning more about the volunteer process, or in fostering a few of these babies, please reach out, or better yet, come in person to chat! Let’s get these sweet little ones into loving homes and help them get ready for adoption!

Look at this handsome fella! Meet Glenex!

Glenex recently enjoyed a Dog for the Day outing and came back with stellar notes! Here is what his temp-fosters had to say about him:

"We had the pleasure of taking out Glenex for the day. He’s a 1-year old, neutered brindle boy with great manners and would make a wonderful pet for someone. He was pretty excited at first when we took him out, but who wouldn’t be? 🐕 😍

He enjoys riding in the car and after a nice long walk in the park, he really started becoming himself. He was non-reactive to other dogs and people, which is really great. He pulled a little bit, but nothing too terrible or can’t be worked on with some training but overall was good on a leash. 🐾🌲

Glenex’s next stop was a local outdoor patio, where he just shined. He was calm, relaxed, affectionate and met lots of people and gave them kisses while receiving lots of pets. We were truly amazed at what a good boy he is.👍☀️"

They went on to say that if their house wasn't at max-capacity, they would absolutely be bringing this sweetie home for foster. What a good boy 🥹

Glenex is dog-friendly and petite at around 45 pounds. If you're interested in meeting him, please stop by 3280 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Chamblee, GA. Let's get him home!

Getchu someone who looks at you like Gilbert 🥹😍

This sweet boy was saved a couple weeks ago by an amazing foster family who has gone above and beyond to let him decompress and thrive. Unfortunately, it seems like he would do best in a home without cats, so we are urgently looking for a foster takeover, or better yet, an adopter, to keep him out of the shelter.

Gilbert was really, really struggling in the shelter environment. It was heartbreaking to see such a kind, loving dog deteriorate so much in their kennel. But as we've seen time and time again, all he needed was a home to blossom and shine in.

Gilbert is estimated to be between 5 and 6 years old, and around 60 pounds. He's a pretty stellar dog:

✅ crate trained
✅ potty trained
✅ good with dogs and children
✅ the perfect mix of playful and snuggly

He just needs a home without cats. That's it.

Gilbert also knows tricks and basic commands, loves the car, and also loves a good game of fetch. This really is just a good boy in need of a family to call him their own.

If you're interested in chatting with Gilbert's foster, and either adopting or taking over, please click the link below and fill out the 'Connect with My Foster' form. Let's get Gilbert home!

Based on these photos, we think it's safe to say that Helopopper had a wonderful time in Weekend Warrior. What a cutie!

Helopopper is just a puppy at only around 8 months old. Despite being a younger fella, he definitely seems house trained, does well in the crate, is super snuggly, walks well on the leash...what's not to love?

He's also dog-friendly, regularly attending play group here at the shelter. He's just a sweet, loveable puppy who deserves so much more than sitting at the shelter.

If you're interested in meeting Helopopper, and bringing him home either for foster or adoption, stop by the shelter to say hello! We would love to see this cutie where he belongs: in a loving home, full of treats, toys, and lots of love 🥰

Sweet kitty alert 🚨🚨🚨 Meet Tessa!

This adorable little lady has been in foster for a little over a month, and in recent weeks, her schedule has been absolutely PACKED with important activities, including but not limited to:

☀ Sun-bathing (of course)
🕊 Bird-watching (naturally)
💤 Snoozing (on her foster mama's bed, where she belongs)

But if you're lucky, she might just rearrange her busy schedule for a meet and greet. Her foster describes her as a low-maintenance, purring machine who is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented. She's the perfect age and size at around 8 years old and 8 pounds, and she'd be the perfection addition to so many households!

If you're interested in meeting Tessa and seeing if she would be a good fit for your home, click the link below and fill out the form to connect with her foster. If you're looking for a snuggly, loveable little cutie-patootie to keep your bed warm while you work, Tessa might just be the perfect fit!

Meet Spooks! This sweet girl has been enjoying her time in foster, but we would love to find her people!

Spooks is estimated to be around 6 years old, and right at 70 pounds. She's incredibly affectionate once she gets to know you, and is also fully house- and crate- trained.

We think Spooks would thrive best as the only dog in the home. She has done well with older children, as well as cats! Any cat lovers out there looking for a new furry friend?

Despite being middle-aged, Spooks is described as higher-energy. She would be a great dog for an active family who enjoys hikes, walks, and play time. If you're interested in meeting her, click the link below and fill out the 'Connect with My Foster' form. They are interested in getting her adopted, but also in a foster takeover!

Friday AM update: safe in foster, available to adopt!

When staff left tonight a little after 9pm, Layla was the last remaining urgent dog. We have extended her deadline to tomorrow, Friday, May 29 at 11am.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Layla, please be at the shelter right when we open at 11am. Out of state adoptions are allowed, but the adopter is responsible for transport.

Layla is between 2 and 3 years old and around 42 pounds. Thanks to a Weekend Warrior foster, we know that she definitely seems house trained and does well in the crate. She is dog-friendly with a physical play style, and has met children and done well.

Even the sweetest dogs struggle in the shelter. Layla is showing severe signs of decline in her kennel, which is what led to this difficult decision. All she needs is a loving home where she can decompress and open up. She is an absolute doll, who just wants someone to love.

Let's find Layla's people ❤
