Sheep and goat show was a hit at the Boone County Fair Tuesday night! The boys brought their bottle lambs and Paisley showed her sheep and goat. Capped off the night with pony rides which was a huge hit.

Paisley’s goat won rate of gain (gained the most weight from spring weigh in to the fair)… shout out to Shelton Seed for keeping our bulk bin full.

When Paisley won her first two banners last year in rate of gain that was our God Wink that we were accomplishing our more nuanced goal of teaching animal care and responsibility. Sheep showing is very competitive, so it’s been fun to have our personalized goals for our fam.

4-H really is about skill building for the kids and family. I drove the trailer to several events this year solo with Paisley which was one of my goals. The boys had bottle lambs and we had so much fun with them this year. The peewee class was definitely a highlight for me! Paisley and I also bought clippers and learned how to do our own sheep shearing!

It’s been hot! Our white cows and feeder calves are making me happy!

The kids adore the 3 Brangus calves we have right now… peep those big ears in the last few pictures! We got 3 Brangus cows that were already bred as a calving project and the babes have been so fun… The ear shape and size are so noticeable even at birth!
