Here at Dogs Forever we open our hearts and bring dogs into our care from counties without animal shelters, shelters where dogs are euthanized due to overcrowding, and other reasons such as an owner has passed away and there is no family to take the dog in. With our intimate setting of kennels, the noise level is not offensive to dogs or people, which helps keep the stress among our dogs at a mini

mum. We also use classical and jazz music to help provide a calm and soothing environment for the dogs. Our all-volunteer staff is committed to the well-being of the dogs in our care. Three times each day, seven days a week, volunteers walk, feed, and interact with our dogs. They all receive the upmost medical and dental care from day one with us. Some of them have never known a kind, gentle, loving touch. It's our duty as their caregivers to walk beside them during their journey with us. We provide them with those feelings and emotions to feel safe and confident while we find their forever home. Say hello to Huck — the happy-go-lucky big boy who just discovered toys and snuggles… and LOVES both.

Huck is 6ish? years old, about 83 pounds, Lab mix-ish, and built like a teddy bear that came to life.

His energy? Playful but polite.
His vibe? Sunshine with a touch of goofball.
His heart? Soft as they come.

The scars on his body tell us he's been through some tough times, but he doesn’t let that define him. Instead, he’s busy doing the important stuff:

💛 Snuggling into your side with all 83 pounds
🌱 Enjoying yard adventures
😊 Being a happy camper with the cutest ears

He’s dog-friendly, needs a meet-and-greet with any resident pups, and would thrive with a fenced yard. Cat testing is coming soon.

🍪🐾 Call for Bakers! 🐾🍪

Are you a planner? While you’re making your list (and checking it twice!) for ingredients for your holiday baking list, please consider whipping up a little extra to donate to our bake sale fundraiser during our Dogs Forever's 14th Annual Holidog Bazaar!

We need human AND puppers baked goods to help support our fundraiser — and all proceeds go directly to the dogs in our care. ❤️

📅 Please drop off all baked goods by Thursday, December 4th at our shelter 809 Rockford RD SW. We’ll have two donation totes outside the main building that volunteers will be checking. If you knock and no one answers, they’re likely out walking dogs and will be back shortly.

Drop-off times:
6–8 AM
11:30 AM–1 PM
6–8 PM

✨ A few important notes:
• Clearly label if your goodies are for humans or dogs (you have no idea how hard it is to tell sometimes! 😂)
• Let us know what it is and list any allergens (nuts, peanuts, etc.) Please nothing that needs chilled or refrigerated.
• Please have items individually wrapped or bagged and WE will take care of the pricing.

Your baking helps us make this event extra special and raises much-needed funds for the pups who rely on us.

🐶 Cute Little Dog Alert — Meet Ziggy! 🐶

Ziggy is a 2-year-old terrier mix weighing just 13 pounds of pure snuggle-worthy sweetness. He’s friendly, playful, and loves being picked up for cuddles — the perfect little companion for cozy lap time!

We just welcomed Ziggy into our care, so we’re still getting to know him, but we already know he loves playing with his siblings, Bailee and Shaggy, so he’s definitely dog-friendly. If you have another pup at home, we’ll just need a meet-and-greet to make sure it’s a perfect match. We’re not sure yet how he feels about cats, but a cat test is coming soon.

🐾 Gotta love a pup with cute eyebrows — Meet Vin Diesel! 🐾

Vin Diesel is a 7-month-old shepherd-ish mix-ish weighing 37 pounds of pure charm. Handsome, friendly, and full of personality, he can’t wait to find his forever home! We just welcomed Vin Diesel into our care, so we’re still getting to know him, but he’s already showing great progress with potty training.

He loves playing with his sister, Cookie, so he’s definitely dog-friendly — and we think he’d be happiest with another pup to romp around with. If you have another dog at home, we’ll just need a meet-and-greet to make sure it’s a perfect match. We don’t know yet how he feels about cats, but a cat test is coming soon.

Vin Diesel would absolutely thrive with a fully fenced yard where he can safely run, explore, and play to his heart’s content!

We just welcomed Shaggy into our care, so we’re still getting to know all his little quirks, but one thing’s for sure: he loves curling up at your feet in a soft blanket.

🧡 Meet Sammy — our 101-pound gentle giant! 🧡

This big, handsome hound mix is 5 years old and all heart. Sammy is truly one of the sweetest boys you’ll ever meet! Even though he’s new to our care, he’s already coming out of his shell, showing us his friendly, soft spirit… and we’re pretty sure he’s about to reveal himself as a world-class cuddler.

Sammy is a great walker who loves taking his time to sniff all the best smells — so if you’ve been looking for a loyal walking buddy, he might be your guy. He’s dog-friendly, and if you have another pup at home, we’ll just need a meet-and-greet to make sure it’s a good fit.

We think Sammy would thrive with a fully fenced yard where he can safely stroll, trot, and soak up the sunshine. One important note: Sammy says “no thank you” to kitties — they’re not his thing.

✨ Scruffy Dog Lovers — Meet Pearl! ✨

Say hello to Pearl, our beautiful 3-year-old Labradoodle-ish? who weighs 44 pounds and has enough love to fill an entire room. Pearl adores people — like, full-on wiggle-butt, “you’re my best friend already” levels of joy. Because she shows her affection with enthusiasm, she’ll likely do best in a home with older kids who can appreciate her big-hearted energy.

Once she settles in, Pearl walks wonderfully on a leash and would make an excellent walking partner. She seems dog-friendly, though she definitely prefers to focus her attention on her humans. If you have another dog at home, we’ll just need a meet-and-greet to be sure it’s a good fit.

We’re not sure yet how she feels about cats, but a cat test is coming soon. We also think Pearl would love having a fully fenced yard where she can run, play, and get the zoomies out safely. And one quick note — she does shed, so if you’re searching for a non-shedding pup, Pearl may not be the right match.

💛 Meet Huck — the sunshine boy with the never-ending smile 💛

Huck has had a rough start to life, and his sweet body carries some of that story… but you’d never know it from his spirit. This boy holds no grudges — he’s joyful, gentle, and always ready to greet you with the happiest smile you’ve ever seen.

Huck is a 6-year-old Lab-ish mix-ish weighing in at 83 pounds of pure love. He’s the perfect blend of playful and calm: he’ll happily romp around the yard and then settle right in next to you for some quiet time. He’s gentle with his toys and loves trying out every single one like it’s a brand-new treasure.

He’s dog-friendly, and if you have another pup at home, we’ll just need a meet-and-greet to make sure it’s a great match. We think Huck would thrive with a fully fenced yard where he can run, explore, and feel safe. We don’t know how he feels about cats yet, but we’ll be testing him soon.

🐾 Wrinkly Forehead Fans — Meet Frisco! 🐾

This handsome lowrider with the cutest little wrinkly forehead is Frisco! He’s a 6-month-old mystery mix weighing 35 pounds of pure puppy charm. Whatever he’s mixed with, he’s 100% adorable — and 100% ready to meet you!

Frisco is super friendly, playful, and full of personality. He loves squeaky toys, chewing on bones, running zoomies in the yard, and then crashing for snuggles. He’s been having an absolute blast playing with his foster sister, so we definitely think he’d love having another canine buddy in his forever home. If you have another dog, we just need a meet-and-greet to make sure it’s the perfect fit.

He’s kennel trained and appears to be house trained — go Frisco! We’re not sure how he feels about cats yet, but a cat test is coming soon. With his energy and love for playtime, we think he’d be thrilled to have a fully fenced yard where he can run and explore safely.
