🌸 Nova: The Sweetheart with a Smile! 🌸

Four years old, 45 pounds of fluff, and a heart overflowing with joy, that’s Nova! She’s a playful, affectionate pup who makes friends everywhere she goes. Whether it’s a stroll around the block or playtime in the yard, Nova is happiest when she’s by your side.

✨ What makes Nova special:

🐕 Loves other dogs (just needs a meet & greet with resident pups)
🚶 Walks nicely on a leash and would love to be your daily walking buddy
🐱 Cats? Not her thing—she’s hoping for a feline-free home

🐾 Say hello to Vito! 🐾

This 5-year-old Lab mix is 83 pounds of pure love and loyalty. Vito is the kind of dog who makes friends everywhere he goes. Whether it’s people, other dogs, or even cats! (We’ll set up a meet-and-greet to be sure it’s a good fit with your pets.)

Vito walks politely on leash and would love to join you for daily strolls. When the walk is over, he’s just as happy to hang out in the yard with you so a fully fenced yard would be the dream spot for this big sweetheart. He is so smart too and very treat motivated which makes him a great learner. He's a pleaser for sure! 😍

He’s gentle, affectionate, and ready to become someone’s very best friend.

✨ Meet Merlin – your next little sidekick! ✨

Merlin may be small, but he’s packed with personality! This 2-year-old Chihuahua something something mix tips the scale at just 13 pounds, making him the perfect size for both playtime and cuddle time. Toss him a toy and watch his happy zoomies, then get ready for him to curl up in your lap and soak up the love.

Merlin dreams of being king of his castle, so he’s looking for a home where he can be the only pet. He’s working hard on his leash skills and does best in quieter environments. A fully fenced yard would be a bonus so he can stretch his little legs and play safely while continuing to build his confidence.

🐶 CALLING ALL DOG LOVERS AND WALKERS!! 🐾

Dogs Forever is in need volunteers to help with our early morning 6-8AM Dog Walking shift, giving love and care to the dogs at our shelter.

📅 Orientation: Monday, Oct 6 @ 5:30pm
📍 809 Rockford Rd SW, Cedar Rapids (two blue buildings—the right one is orientation)

✨ Quick Info:

🐾Must be 18+ and complete the volunteer questionnaire before signing up: https://dogsforever.org/volunteer/volunteer-questionnaire/
🐾Stay for the entire 6–8am shift
🐾No pets, children, friends, partners, spouses can tag along when you volunteer. Adults can sign up separately and then you can sign up for shifts together when available.
🐾Volunteers are required to do at least 2 shifts a month that's it! (More if you want!)
🐾Background check required
🐾You can mark other shifts or opportunities you’d like to help with in the questionnaire, but our biggest need right now is 6-8AM DOG WALKERS!

We’re 100% volunteer-run rain, shine, snow, ice, our pups need care three times a day. If you’re ready to make a real difference, we’d love to have you! ❤️

👉 Once these 7 spots are filled, we’ll open another orientation for our AM dog walker needs. We’re a small shelter and only have so much room at a time, so thank you for your patience and flexibility!

🍪🐾 Call for Bakers! 🐾🍪

Are you a planner? A baker? Plan ahead to work in some time to whip up some goodies! It's getting close to our Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser and we need your help. 🎉

We’re looking for generous community members to make some goodies and donate them to the bake sale fundraiser we'll be having at our Dogs Forever's 5th Annual Chili Cook Off Fundraiser on Saturday, October 4th. We have human and puppers goodies at our bake sale.

Drop-off times at the shelter on Friday, October 3rd. We have two donation totes outside of the main building that are volunteers will be checking. If you knock on the door they don't answer, they could be out walking dogs!

6–8 AM
11:30 AM–1 PM
6–8 PM

✨ A few important notes:

Please label clearly if your goodies are for humans or for dogs (some of y’all are such amazing bakers we can’t even tell the difference—haha!).

List what the item is and note any allergens (nuts, peanuts, etc.).

Please have items individually wrapped or bagged.

We’ll handle all the pricing at the sale.

Your baking helps us raise funds for the sweet pups in our care since 100% of the proceeds will come right back to us! Thank you for supporting this fun (and tasty) event! ❤️ Let us know what questions you may have!

Meet Ty!!

Ty is officially applying for the role of your new best friend! 💛 This 1-year-old, 53-pound sweetheart absolutely LOVES people and is ready to bring lots of joy to his forever home.

His DNA results came back pretty impressive:

55% Siberian Shepherd
17% English Shepherd
9% Rough Collie
8% Boxer

Ty is a total fetch champion and would happily play ball all day if you let him! He’s dog-friendly, though if you have another pup at home, we’ll require a meet-and-greet to ensure it’s a good match. We’re not sure how he feels about cats yet, but we’ll be testing that soon.

We believe Ty would thrive in a home with a fully fenced yard where he can safely run, play, and burn off his fun-loving energy.
