Archie's mom left this comment on one of our posts:

"Wednesday is my favorite day of the week! Archie plays with you all day, then comes home and relaxes all evening. That means I get to relax too."

And that's just one of the benefits of dog daycare for a family with a high energy dog!

And look... we know dog daycare has changed a lot since we opened our first one way back in 2002. Many facilities have become larger and fancier over the years. The fees & upcharges have multiplied for add-on's & every "perk." The groups are large with many dogs & staff rotating in and out.

And plenty of dogs are able to thrive in that environment. But for others, it's overwhelming.

At Downtown Dogs, we intentionally went in a different direction.

Small groups. Personal relationships. Hands-on supervision. A MamaDog and PapaDog who know every dog by name and unique personality.

We're a throwback to the kind of daycare experience I fell in love with providing decades ago.

A place that feels less like a warehouse and more as if your four-legged family member is spending the day at Grandma's house with their best friends.

We received this lovely comment from the mom of a Club Member and just wanted to share it with you. “Highly recommend this club! It is so nice knowing they are getting attention all day and are not left alone. Our dog loves the other dogs and having a human with them all day is so wonderful.”

Hey friends, MamaDawg here. Everyone keeps telling me I need to share more of our story at Downtown Dogs Social Club. I don't like to toot my own horn, but I keep getting told many people don't realize that I pioneered the dog daycare industry in our state, and opened Iowa's first dog daycare-only facility back in 2002- right here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Over the years I've owned multiple daycare facilities. I've also helped shape daycare standards in our state, worked with regulators as dog daycare rules were being developed, and mentored others who followed in the dog daycare world. I've helped train people and their dogs in obedience classes, raised guide dog puppies for the blind, developed pet therapy programs, and spent decades helping all kinds of dogs and their people succeed.

Today, Downtown Dogs Social Club is the result of everything I've learned along the way. Not bigger. Not louder. Not competing with anyone else. Just providing the best care I can give the dogs entrusted to me, through standards developed from over two decades of doing the work.
