Psst, Margot here! I hear it is National Cat Day, so I thought I would make my presence known and let you know about these items that are on my counter space and are too heavy to knock over.

Did you know that we have amazing fall-scented Pet Odor Exterminator candles for only $11.42? These enzyme-formulated candles do a great job of keeping my home smelling great, no matter what mishaps happen in the clinic!

Come by anytime and help give me more space to plot mischief while supervising my coworkers!

👉TVH Team Highlight!👈

This week, we're shining the spotlight on Dr. Smith! He's been part of the Taylor Veterinary Hospital family since 2002, making him the longest-standing member of our current team!

Dr. Smith loves his job in veterinary medicine because of the variety each day brings. He might perform an annual physical on a healthy dog, check follow-up blood work for a cat with chronic kidney disease, and then see a sick rabbit all in the span of an hour! No two days are ever quite the same, and that variety is one of the things he enjoys most about his job.

While Dr. Smith enjoys working with all kinds of animals, cats hold a special place in his heart. (Margot approves of this!)

When Dr. Smith isn't at work, you can find him enjoying the great outdoors and spending time reading.

We are so grateful to have Dr. Smith as part of our team for over 20 years! Thank you, Dr. Smith, for your dedication to your furry patients and their families!

🐾 A Little Patience Goes a Long Way!

Our team is navigating some unanticipated staffing shortages this week due to vacations and family emergencies while also celebrating Staff Appreciation Week!

📞 Please give us a call with plenty of notice for any appointments and prescription refills needed through the end of the week to help us plan ahead. Any non-urgent appointments (annual care, nail trims, etc.) will be scheduled next week at the earliest.

Please also know that we will be closed Friday, October 23rd, from 10:00 AM–1:30 PM. Please plan food and medication pickups outside these hours.

We’re so grateful for our amazing staff and how everyone comes together to support one another during challenging times. We appreciate our team every day, but especially this week! Enjoy these photos from this past weekend, when we enjoyed a Fall party at Dr Goetsch's house, which included a baked potato bar and pumpkin carving. 🎃

We truly appreciate your patience, kindness, and continued support!

Week 3 of highlighting our team continues with Liv, one of our Veterinary Assistants who has been with us since 2024!

Liv especially enjoys being able to make an impact in animals' lives and the people who care for them, from the first puppy visit to being on call when they need us most. From complicated cases to annual visits, surgery, and everything in between, they genuinely love being there for people and their pets.

Their favorite animal to work with and be around in general is cows. Cows are such gentle giants; they're just big puppies. They could spend every day hanging out with cows if they could. Liv's favorite animals that they get to work with daily are our senior clients. They love being able to go out of their way to make their golden years that much more comfortable. 💛

In their free time, Liv enjoys hiking with and training their dogs, hanging out with rescued farm animals, napping with their cats, and animal rights activism. Every facet of their life revolves around animals and improving their lives, and they've worked hard to make it this way!

We are so grateful for the hard, hands-on work that our veterinary assistants like Liv do every day!

Confused by all the dog (or cat) food advice online? You're not alone!

From social media trends to homemade diets and supplements, pet nutrition advice is everywhere. But how do you know which sources to trust?

The World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) has put together a helpful guide to help pet owners evaluate online nutrition advice, recognize red flags, and make more informed decisions about their pet’s diet.

💡 A few tips to remember:
🐾 Check the credentials of the person giving the advice.
🐾 Be cautious of miracle claims and products promising quick fixes.
🐾 Look for reliable, science-based information.
🐾 Talk with your veterinarian before making significant changes to your pet’s diet.

Your pet’s nutritional needs are unique, and our veterinary team is here to help you navigate the options!

👉TVH Team Highlight!👈

Week two of highlighting our fantastic team continues with Dr Bethany Huhman, one of our 3 wonderful vets who has been with us since 2018!

Dr Huhman has a special love for Golden Retrievers as they are the perfect blend of energetic and loving. This love started with having two Goldens growing up, and while she's had some mixes in between, Dr Huhman is always happiest with a Golden around (or two... or three!!).

Her favorite part of working in Veterinary Medicine is the variety from day to day. Knowing every day will be a little bit different than the last, and being able to learn new things every day keeps things interesting and challenging.

When Dr Huhman isn't at work, you can find her enjoying time camping, kayaking, reading, and crocheting. (She has good book recommendations!)

We are all very grateful for Dr Huhman's hard work and dedication to her patients and our team!

Mystery from Wednesday's guessing game solved!

According to Dr Wendi Goetsch, this is a drawing detailing the bones of the spine of a canine with intervertebral discs in between; the disc is inflamed and pushing on the spinal cord above. There is also spondylosis bridging/arthritis and a nerve coming off the spinal cord. When you have a dog with back pain, there are many causes; this is a case where Dr Goetsch used drawing as a visual tool to explain what's going on!

Thanks to everyone who joined the guessing game!

❔Today in Guess What Dr Wendi Goetsch Drew ❔

She did it again, and now it's your turn to figure out what it is!

Leave your best guess in the comments. We'll reveal the answer on Friday!

👉TVH Team Highlight!👈

Today we begin a weekly series highlighting our amazing team members. We are starting off by highlighting Jill, our Practice Manager since 2007!

Jill has always loved animals, but grew up in a cat family. When she married a vet (Dr Chad Smith!), she learned to love dogs as well!

She loves her job as Practice Manager because she gets to do so many different things each day, from working on spreadsheets to her heart's content, then taking a break to help with a puppy or kitten visit, to answering the phone to help our amazing clients.

When Jill is not at work, she loves to read, snuggle their cats, and travel.

We are all very grateful for Jill and everything she does to keep things running smoothly at TVH every day!
