Mikaela may have only been with us for a few short months, but her experience, work ethic, and passion for veterinary medicine have made a big impression. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Mikaela brought years of clinic experience with her when she moved to Cedar Falls with her husband, who coaches football at UNI. At home, she’s just as busy—with her two Aussies, Callie and Koe and their Corgi named Dug!

We’re so excited to have Mikaela leading our lab team and can’t wait to see all the amazing things she’ll do in this role. 💙🐾

🔥Keep collars and identification tags on your pets at all times. In the chaos of a fire, it will help firefighters identify and reunite them with you.

🔥Place pet alert stickers on windows or doors to inform firefighters of the number and types of pets inside your home. Make sure to keep them updated.

🔥Secure open flames and use pet-safe alternatives. Keep candles, stovetops, and space heaters out of reach to prevent accidental burns or fire-starting by curious paws.

🔥Create a pet evacuation plan. Practice regular fire drills and establish a designated meeting point outside. Make sure everyone in the family knows how to safely handle and transport pets.
