Casper Humane Society We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. Proudly serving our community for more than 75 years.

We are a non-profit, no-kill shelter in Casper, Wyoming. We have been a part of our community for over 65 years. As a non-profit, we do not receive any government funding and rely solely on the support of donors. Our role in the community is very important and while many people don't know the extent of our work, on any given day, we are home to more than 100 animals ranging from dogs and cats to g

uinea pigs, rats, reptiles, and birds. Not only do we provide basic care such as feeding and cleaning their living space, it is important to us that our animals receive spaying/neutering, vaccines, deworming, and microchipping, socialization, exercise, positive stimulation, training, and extensive vet care. Our time and attention is necessary to ensure our standards are met and our animals remain happy, healthy, and confident as they search for their new homes. On average, we find homes for nearly 500 animals every year. Our devotion to finding the best placement for each individual enables our ability to maintain a changing population and continue helping others in need. It is our daily goal to ensure animals that come into our care are healthy or nursed back to health and feel love and comfort during a vulnerable time in their lives, with the help of our volunteers alongside our staff, we are able to make this possible. This head tilt is giving us life. 🙌 Milk is in the business of being adorable, and business is good! She's 11 months old with an unworldly amount of curiosity and a tender lust for life that leaves all of our hearts feeling full. She can often be found strutting her stuff in the colony room, and honey, with long legs like that, we would too (slay). 💅 She came to us as a small community cat, afraid, vulnerable, and unsure of just about everything around her, including us. But, you know the drill, she wasn't gonna walk up in here and NOT be our friend. No Sir. With time (and probably an annoying amount of persistence from our end), she blossomed into the elegant, playful, and special little cuddler we all know today. 🌹 This was no easy feat; many treats and toys had to be sacrificed (RIP), but it was all for a greater cause. Milk is now nourishing our souls with her playfulness, and if there is one condition for her new home, it's positive stimulation. We're talking tunnels, we're talking fuzzy things, jingly things, and you already know, no wand, no dice. She's here for a good time, people, and she deserves to feel safe, loved, and spoiled in every way possible. 😽 But, truth be told, her little heart was made to love you, too. Once she settles, the brush against your legs and those head butts will be what keep you chugging along each day in anticipation of more. She’ll even let you hold her like the true baby that she absolutely is. Just sayin’. Milk is great with other cats, and we think she will enjoy having another playful feline to share her time with. She will do best with older children who know how to treat such a soft little lady, but she doesn't seem to care for dogs. Maybe an experienced canine friend who will offer peace has potential. 👀

In case anyone was wondering what a Spay and Neuter day for kittens looks like... They come in, reorganize the vet office, get A LOT of cuddles, and leave with a brighter future. ✨

As an animal organization that prides itself on being their advocate, we must ensure we are doing right by our animals to keep them safe and healthy. We must also contribute to the bigger picture of animal welfare and community impact entirely.

Spaying and neutering ensure:

🤍 Prevention of unwanted litters
🤍 Reduced risk of life threatening cancers
🤍 Disease avoidance, such as pyometra
🤍 Reduced roaming
🤍 Eliminating potential for behavioral issues

Not only is it necessary and beneficial, but getting our companions fixed promotes a longer, healthier life and alleviates the burden on overcrowded animal shelters everywhere. So, remember friends, everybody should love a little S&N. 😎

First of all, nobody feels more inconvenienced by pictures than this guy. It was only from sheer determination that these absolutely fabulous photos of his tongue becoming the main character were possible. 😅 Say hello to Diesel! He's an 8 year old, Shepherd/Husky mix looking for a calm place to run the roost. He's kind of like your favorite grandpa, except he has fewer opinions. Which is great news for you because he will quietly judge your life choices from the comfort of his bed, and when you really need him, he will offer his ear and be your shoulder to cry on... Maybe, or he'll get awkward and walk away. He's a fan of Irish goodbyes, and he knows when his social battery needs a recharge and a nappy is in order. 🫥 The reality is, he might not have been born to be your most reliable emotional support pet, but he will definitely be your bestie. Diesel is super chill and, honestly, soaking up the sunshine in peace with his people is all that his heart needs. He wants to enjoy ALL of the walks, perhaps a bark at the birds, a quick game of fetch, a get together in the backyard, and when you're ready to relax he's all for it. His laid back demeanor will bring all of the tranquility your household needs, and at the end of the day, he'll be ready to hit the sofa, kick his paws up, and take in the (preferably endless) belly rubs you have to offer. 👀 He tends to have a big bark but we can assure you, his heart is even bigger. We haven't seen him with toddlers but he does do well with older children, dogs, and even cats. There isn't a lot that will get him riled up and he's proven himself to be very well mannered and easy going. We know he is going to make a wonderful addition to any family willing to give a big, seasoned companion the chance he deserves. 🫶 Umm... did we mention that he is 102lbs? 😜

Say hello to Mol, Karlach, and Rolan. ✨ These precious and exuberant little felines are just shy of 3 months old and ready to bring that special companionship to your home. They're beauty, grace, and honestly, all over the place, but you will LOVE them. Can you really look at these faces and believe otherwise? Come on, let's be real. 😏 They have that undeniable kitten energy that makes your heart scream, but they also have their unique qualities, which is going to make deciding who is your perfect fit quite difficult. Is it Mol? Karlach? Rolan? Trick question because guess what? They're all P E R F E C T, inside and out. They'll play, they'll bounce, pounce, and probably create a little chaos, all in good fun and curiosity. Can you blame 'em? We could all be a little less serious and a little more unapologetically happy. They're here to teach ya a thing or two! But don't get us wrong, they are attentive, social, and who doesn't enjoy a warm hug, and someone to make you feel safe? A devoted family to ensure they get their snackies, have toys to chase, and will spend every day treating them like they're #1 (because they are 😽) is all these angels need. In return, you are looking at a solid 15+ years with the best friends you never knew you needed (but we knew, we knew all along 👀).

Can we talk about this button nose? Because seriously. 😍 Miss Maya is a 1 year old Boxer mix ready to find her special place in the world. She's young, sweet, full of light, love, and to sum it up, she's definitely your ideal companion. Her happiness, playfulness, wholesome Mayaness know no bounds, and she extends all of that sparkly charm to everyone. Let's just say that this girl right here is top tier bestie material and the most social of all the butterflies. 🦋 She loves meeting new people, seeing new places, and being a part of, well, YOU. She is going to thrive with an active family who will really guarantee her the engagement, fun, adventure, and all of those soft, tender moments curled up on the couch together. And, if you must know, her favorite place to post up for the night is in bed with the kiddos. It doesn't get any better than that, y'all. Get yourself a dog who will love your kids as much as you love your kids, and watch your life flourish. Maya and your mini me's will thank you. 🤟 She does great with other dogs, and even does well with cats. She wants to play, play, play, run, run, run. She loves her toys, a sturdy bone, and above all, she loves herself a kiddie pool. It is the perfect season not only to find her forever family and get that new beginning she very much deserves, but to enjoy the weather and bring an unimaginable smile to everyone's faces. Calling all "Humane Heroes"!!!!

It's almost time for the 3rd Annual Youth Volunteer Program at the Casper Humane Society. So, you know what that means?!?🤷🏻‍♂️ It's time to get down to the shelter and pick up an application to be part of the fun.

This year will feature seven sessions in July but, there are only twelve spots available so make sure you get your application turned in right away and be sure to tell us why YOU should be part of our pack!

We want to say a very special thank you to all of our supporters.

Grateful doesn't even begin to describe how we feel. Honestly, the amount of kindness and generosity you all have shown us, not only for these puppies, but in recent months, has been indescribable.

This work is difficult, and there are so many animals who need someone in their corner. In fact, the need continues to grow, which means we must too. It is truly such a privilege that, not only do we get to be their advocates, their safety, and in many instances, their desperate second chance, but we also get to do it all with every single one of you standing behind us.

You continue to support us, to answer our call, and to be the light in a world that can sometimes feel so dark. We wouldn't be where we are without the love you all hold in your hearts for us, for our animals, and for our mission.

The weather is weathering. The orange is oranging. And, Peanut is here to provide your daily dose of serotonin. ☀

He's cute, he's sweet, a little unhinged, but non-conformity has never looked so dang good. 😎 Peanut was adopted and returned to us because... well, let's just say a designer bag hates to see him comin' (yeah, he chewed up a purse... or two). He's not accepting questions on the matter, so he's going to keep being adorbs and hold onto his little secrets. Hey, it's his first time living, too, and sometimes the orange in him can't be tamed. BUT, he deserves love, patience, and probably a nice, quiet room to settle into for a few weeks before being integrated into the general population. New places, new people, new pets, it can all be overwhelming, and we don't know if you noticed, but have you seen his face? 🤔 This is the face of a baby. A very delicate and sensitive, sometimes reactive baby. With time and your unconditional lurve, he will break free from his chains and put his brain cell to work, figuring out ways to encapsulate your heart with his innocent, playful, and gentle ways. He wants nothing more than to sit on our laps, play together with his toys, and stare blankly at you until you can no longer handle the intensity of his Peanutness. 👀 He really does do well with everyone he meets, the other cats in the colony room, and even dogs. If he could just have one more chance, and maybe a little more time to feel confident and comfortable, we know he will steal your hearts the same way he has stolen ours. 🥹

If you are an experienced orange cat aficionado, we think Peanut may be the special boy you've been looking for. ✨
