Casper Humane Society We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. We are a non-profit, no-kill shelter in Casper, Wyoming.

We are home to more than 100 animals ranging from dogs and cats to guinea pigs, rats, reptiles, and birds. We have been a part of our community for over 65 years. As a non-profit, we do not receive any government funding and rely solely on the support of donors. Our role in the community is very important and while many people don't know the extent of our work, on any given day, we are home to mor

Not only do we provide basic care such as feeding and cleaning their living space, it is important to us that our animals receive spaying/neutering, vaccines, deworming, and microchipping, socialization, exercise, positive stimulation, training, and extensive vet care. Our time and attention is necessary to ensure our standards are met and our animals remain happy, healthy, and confident as they search for their new homes. On average, we find homes for nearly 500 animals every year. Our devotion to finding the best placement for each individual enables our ability to maintain a changing population and continue helping others in need. It is our daily goal to ensure animals that come into our care are healthy or nursed back to health and feel love and comfort during a vulnerable time in their lives, with the help of our volunteers alongside our staff, we are able to make this possible. A lot has changed since 2009, but the level of care, compassion, and determination you've shared with the shelter, people, and every animal who has come through our doors has never wavered. During your time as Director, you planted a seed, and it has been an honor to watch you nourish it and be an irreplaceable growth within our organization and community.

We know it's not always easy, but your sacrifice does not go unnoticed. We can't imagine having anyone else as our seasoned cat guru (seriously, you can never leave, like ever). Thank you for your many years of service, not only as our Executive Director, but as a dear friend. 🤍

It's Friday night and the boys are being boys!

Meet Enoki & Hemlock. These four month old brothers are ready to experience life outside of the shelter and they might even get into a little trouble. 😉

These rough and tumble lads are typical boys ( and typical kittens) in every sense of the word. Energetic, curious, playful, affectionate, silly and even a little mischievous. Just like children, if they are being too quiet, you should probably check on them and make sure they aren't up to something.

Both these boys are neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed and microchipped. I think we may have just described the perfect feline (and the perfect man too)! 🤣

If you have room in your house and your heart , these youngsters are ready and waiting for you to meet them! Stop by the shelter during our regular business hours: Tuesday - Saturday from Noon to 5:00pm and prepare to have your heart stolen! ❤

Say hello to Sparkle! She’s a beautiful 3 year old, mixed breed (she’s something in between a cattledog and wirehair), ready to share her gleam with the world and everyone around her. This girl is kind, sweet, and emits a charm like no other. Seriously, she a people’s dog, a dog’s dog, heck, she’s even a cat’s dog. Whoever, whatever, Sparkle is just here to spread her joy and love, and she’s really good at it! ✌️ She is an energetic girly and it’s imperative that her family has the place, space, and time to devote to her need for activity (this will help Sparkle be her absolute best and bubbly self). If you love being outside, guess what? So does she and she will make a wonderful companion for all things nature. She will also settle for a good run around and chew toy, but she likes to keep her options open. Despite her excitement to get up and go, she is still an excellent cuddler, and a daily dose of hugs and calm on the couch are good for her sparkly little soul. ✨

If you crave adventure and companionship, Sparkle is just the dog for you. Stop by any time to witness this special smile and ask to meet her specifically. You will not be disappointed! 🐾

We learned that taking a photo with a mildly tame feral princess is no easy task. And, we're not talking about the cat! (Just kidding, Jennifer 🤪)

Monday was a special day for our dear friend, Libby. After spending 1,053 days in the shelter, she went to her new home. She came to us as a young feral kitten, and despite growing up around people, she has remained set in her ways. But we don't judge! She became loved among all of our staff and many of our volunteers, and it was only right that she go home to a familiar face.

We would like to say thank you to Libby's new owner, and one of our regular volunteers. We appreciate the time you spend with us every week, and your choice to adopt the sometimes antisocial but always adorable kitty has made a difference! ✨

What's better than a good set of pointy ears? Is it a picture perfect smile? Or perfectly plump cheeks? 🤔 Well, today you don't have to decide because Kuma has it all! He's a 3 year old, big (100lbs to be exact) and beautiful, Akita. A truly unique and irreplaceable companion. This breed is not for the faint hearted. Kuma's personality is dominant, protective, and when we say loyalty is his cherry on top, we mean it wholeheartedly. He's ready to keep his home and loved ones safe and secure. Sometimes an underappreciated quality, but who wouldn't want a built-in bodyguard with the strength of a bear and a heart made of gold? True King energy! ✨ Kuma radiates pure joy and has a special playfulness he's ready to share with an active and consistent family. He has been around children but bonds with them selectively (per his past owner). He doesn't seem to mind some other dogs but is better suited for the girlies, and a meet-and-greet is necessary. And, he will do best with an experienced owner with the knowledge and understanding to help him thrive in this new chapter of his life.

Say hello to Oreo! He’s a one year old, elegant, and irresistibly handsome kitty ready to meet “the one”. ✨ He’s an individualist and tends to be in the background in his shared cat room. This docile kitty does his best to avoid confrontation or being in the way. But, don’t be fooled, Oreo is ready to unlock his main character energy in a more relaxed home environment. He is calm and respectful with both people and the other cats, and with a lot of love and reassurance, he will settle in and share the best parts of himself in no time! He loves pets and undivided attention, and if his roommates are busy elsewhere, he does enjoy a little controlled chaos with a feather toy. You’ll have the best of both worlds with this companion, and he’s the type that will make you realize your life hasn’t been complete without something a little sweet in it, and it just happens to be a cat named Oreo. 😽

Saturday was a special day for our dear friend, Cassidy. She has waited patiently to show someone how special and loyal she is, and after 579 days in the shelter, we watched her walk out of our doors with her new family!

She was born to be treated like a queen, and it may have taken some time to get here, but we are certain she will never be treated like anything less ever again!

We would like to say thank you to Cassidy’s new family for giving her the chance she deserves. Not every dog likes other animals but every dog deserves respect and to be loved. Your choice to adopt the mature, single pet has made a difference, and we wish you all the best! ✨

85 adoptions. 🎉

To say July has been busy is a total understatement. Through all of the adoption applications, intake paperwork, adoption paperwork, phone calls, messages, and visitors, we made it. We almost lost our heads a few times along the way, but we are still here in one piece. 😹

The past few weeks have been filled with a lot of different emotions and circumstances, but we are so very thankful for the opportunity to make such an impact in the lives of so many animals. We love them all, big or small! 🐾

Just a post admiring some of our dogs that are 35 lbs or less. 🐾

Come one, come all to visit the little canines of your dreams! Most of them do well with other dogs, of course, a meet-and-greet is in order. Some like small children, others do not (and that's ok!), some even do well with the kitties.

Brighten up your Saturday and stop by any time during our open hours to take a look at the available dogs (and cats 😽) who are waiting to be adopted. We promise it will be the best decision you ever make.

Basic info on each animal is provided on their photos. If you have questions about a specific animal, it is best to contact the shelter directly, and a staff member will be happy to assist you! Spread the word, choose adoption! ✨

If you feel like your heart has been missing a little extra touch, we may have just the thing (or two, or five) for you! Crackle, Flake, Crumble, Crispy, and Crunch are 10 week old, mixed breed puppies. They are something between a Maltipoo and some kind of scruffy terrier (and no, we do not know what exactly 😮‍💨), but 100% adorable, exuberant, and ready to be the apple of your eye. We anticipate they may stay below 30lbs, but life is full of surprises, so be ready for the unexpected, and to love a rambunctious puppy unconditionally. This bunch is full of love and yearns for companionship and attention. They'll be your lap warmer, your entertainment, maybe a reason for a grey hair or two while they're learning, but more so the reason waiting behind your smile at the end of a long day. So, if you have a little extra affection to give, stop by any time during our open hours to meet Crackle, Flake, Crumble, Crispy, and last but definitely not least, Crunch! 🐾

These pups are up to date on their second combination, bordetella, dewormed, and microchipped. We will require a history of spaying and neutering in YOUR name. It's not personal, it's just animal welfare. ✨

We love ourselves an elegant senior with fur like velvet and a personality bigger than the earth we walk on. 😻 Mittens is an 11 1/2 year old sweetie with honey eyes and a plump little chin just waiting to be tickled. Though her admirable beauty comes with a price, she still has that dash of tortitude that we know all too well (and choose to love unconditionally because LOOK AT HER). She loves her scratchies and her pets, and will rest her head in your palm forever if you let her, but she draws the line at being held (and we respect a queen's boundaries 🙌). Mittens is easygoing and quick to find her place; she does well with cats, dogs, and mindful children. This lady has it all, and all is what she absolutely deserves. We would love to see a devoted family take her in and provide only the comfiest of nap spots, the most delectable wet food treats, and the undivided attention Miss Mitten's little heart cherishes so much.

Don't let this quiet soul go unnoticed: she has many years left to be the most beautiful companion you've been missing, and we promise every day with Mittens is a day well spent. ✨
