Miss Uvee, a Lusitano imported from Brazil, just spent her quarantine with us for the last two months before being reunited with her new owner from Canada. Uvee is a total genius, a quick learner and totally settled into the groove of American barn life. She's a carrot over apple girl, loves crunchy treats, was learning some ridiculous tricks with a squeaky chicken, and decided paddock cleaning was her favorite time of day because, let's be real, who doesn't love a good fork “massage”? 😂 We're super thrilled to have hosted her and we wish her all the best at her new home!

Miss Prim was with us this past month awaiting the green light to enter Canada. While it's never fun for us to be separated from our horses, we were truly blessed to have Prim by our side. She is an incredibly sweet horse, overflowing with love and curiosity. She is also the most cooperative medicine taker ever! Kudos to Prim! We look forward to seeing you in the Fall!

Mr Blue! We're thrilled to have had you with us! Blue spent about the last 6 months with us as his owner did some traveling. Blue was here for some R&R and daily medication admin. We're proud to have played a part in your journey to better health and increased activity. I think we succeeded and he is headed to greener pastures in St. Louis to be a unicorn for the owner’s little niece. I'll truly miss your nickers and your genuine enthusiasm for your grain delivery! 😂 Have fun on your new adventure!

Zorro and Zane, aka Big Dude and Little Dude, spent a month chillin’ here before galloping back to Alberta. These gorgeous, gigantic, and goofy horses were the life of the party during their brief stay at the barn. Listening to their thunderous canters around the pasture was like music to our ears, and Zorro's luscious mane and forelock were his ultimate calling card. Meanwhile, Zane, the 11month old eating machine fell head over hooves in love with my new mare, whom he decided was his long lost mom. Zane also required at least 15 minutes of pets and scratches before he allowed you to clean his pen (with his assistance, no less!). Their owner, Niki, a horse transporter extraordinaire, can be reached at [email protected] if you need her expert services in and out of Canada.

Dino and Andy had a good stretch in the arena before “hitting the hay” after a long day riding in the trailer. The pups, Smootch and Ben, were beyond excited to get loose and sprint around the property like lunatics. It was fun watching them run and play as we got to know their owners. I could swear they were smiling as their tongues hung out the side of their mouths! Thanks for staying at The Paard Yard!

Dancer Mae and Lola Beans went home yesterday. Mom and Dad were back from warmer climes and were ready to get back to Montana living. Dancer Mae has been here on and off for years, so we have a special bond. This was Lola’s second time here, and she did great. I’m going to miss my morning kisses and evening nickers. They have been such a big part of my day for the last four months. I’m going to miss them big time. Luckily, they come often for riding in the arena, so they’ll be back, and I can get my love quota. 🥰 thanks for spending your winter here!

Some of my cherished snowbird horses returned for their winter stay, filling my heart with joy. These two gentle souls are always a delight to care for, their friendly nature shining through. It was sweet when their mom came to get them and EZ came over, seeking affection, while Stryder showered me with loving kisses - a gesture of gratitude, in my mind. 🥰 We enjoyed having you here and now the pasture looks empty without you both there. We look forward to seeing you next year and out and about this summer!

Brabant Draught horses graced the Paard Yard on their travels to their new home. Big b***d and beautiful coloring were the lesser of the other standout quality- their manes were incredible! They are forever dubbed the Harry Potter horses. Their manes reminded me of Dumbledore and Hagrid for some reason. 😂 Their owners will definitely need to cast “Geminio” to save some money on the farrier bill by duplicating their plate-sized shoes! Cheers to Fallon, Karlie and Darla for the fun times ahead at your new home.
