Haymitch and his mesmerizing eyes are estimated to be about 3 years old; this stunner was running the streets and no one came to claim him. He is active, loving and playful and is enjoying his time with new pug friends, but would really like a home of his own. His specialty is hypnotizing you in order to get endless belly rubs. We are quite sure that when Mrs. Peacock was roaming the streets alone, blind and sick, she felt hopeless. She ended up in an isolated Shelter in Imperial County and was in real danger of being euthanized. Fortunately, someone reached out to us, and we were able to rescue her. Turned out that Mrs. P was also suffering from diabetes, and after a while, we were able to get her feeling much better. Mrs. P. lived at our facility with us for 9 months before she was adopted in July of this year and is currently living happily in Indiana. Our mission is to provide hope for the hundreds of pugs every year who are in desperate need of rescue and for those who need a place to go filled with care and love while they are waiting for their permanent home. We are reaching out to you during our Hope for Pugs 2025 Matching Funds Drive; we need your help to continue to be able to rescue and care for pugs in need, just like Mrs. Peacock. We cannot continue to rescue in large numbers without your support. Please donate what you can; no amount is too small, and all donations will be doubled until December 31!!!!:

Skedaddle, now 'Mort', was found on the streets and no one came for him; he was in pain and vomiting and needed to be hospitalized because of a very firm bladder and inability to urinate. He was brought to us just in time; he was too weak for surgery and his prognosis was poor, but the vet was able to stabilized him and empty his bladder to make sure he was more comfortable, and the next day he underwent surgery. What an ordeal! But Mort bounced back fairly quickly and a month later was ready for adoption! Danny and Tina have reported that Mort is quite possibly the most affectionate dogs they have ever adopted; he is wiggly, kissy, silly, bitey and adorable ♥️. He is having a bit of trouble with some incontinence but the couple is being patient and pursuing training and even acupuncture to help him. Poor guy! But we are thankful he made it through and is in a loving home 🙏🏻

This absolute beauty, Sloan, is not yet 5 years old and has already had more than enough rotten luck. First off, back in January of 2024, she was found on the streets and ended up in a shelter. She was extremely frightened and, you guessed it, labeled reactive and therefore was in danger. We were so glad to be able to rescue Sloan as she was more nervous and afraid than anything. After about 6 months we found a home for her, a home that understood at the time that she just needed to decompress and she did extremely well there, made tremendous progress. Unfortunately, after being part of a family for a year, Sloan was returned, mostly because of living arrangements with a cat and possible future children. Sloan does have some stranger reactivity and some resource guarding issues but since she's been back with us she's been great. We feel she would fit in well with a single person or more quiet home without cats and children. She's such a good dog, she just has some anxiety and needs the right environment. She's been back over four months already so we are hoping our sweet girl will get another chance. Calabasa was an impounded stray, and we were happy to rescue the big boy. He was in pretty good shape, just some minor ear infections, so when Monica and her family decided to adopt another pug from us, he was ready to go. His latest name is Teddy, and he is doing great and adjusting to his new family quite well. He is very playful and likes to go on walks; the kids really like him and the feeling is mutual.♥ Teddy loves to sleep in the kids' room and take over the toddler's bed🤣. Teddy is very friendly and respectful of his senior pug brother's space and overall the family is thrilled they were able to adopt him. ♥

Enzo (1-1/2 years old) is featured in this video alone, but he is representing both himself and his Dad, Dino (3-1/2 years old) as they are a bonded pair. Dino has been sick so couldn't come out for the filming, but is fully healed and will join his son very soon. They look exactly alike and have been in our care for 6 months already. They are such a unique, active and fun pair who get along with dogs great and once warmed up to a person are a complete delight 😊. Please read more about them and apply here https://www.pugnationla.org/adoptable-pugs/dino-enzo-bonded-pair/

Meet Baby Sasha; we were alerted that she was in a shelter up in Hanford, CA, about 3 hours north of us. The shelter estimated her to be only 5 weeks old and told us the left eye for sure needed to be removed due to a ruptured ulcer, and possibly the right one as well. We didn't hesitate and contacted one of our best adopter/volunteers and he immediately agreed to drive down from Stockton and bring her to us. Aren't people amazing? Thank you, Patrick ♥️. She is safe with us and on antibiotics and pain meds; she's too tiny to safely withstand surgery just yet so we are scheduled for her surgery in a few weeks. And we sure hope when it's surgery day we can save that right eye. She seems comfortable although sometimes she's frightened and confused--check out her reel and that wagging tail. We are just starting out with our Hope for Pugs 2025 Holiday Matching Funds Drive; can you donate to help with Baby Sasha? It's a great time to make a contribution as all donations up to $25,000 will be matched until December 31. Baby Sasha is one of the hundreds of pugs that have desperately needed us this year; please contribute what you can so we can continue to give them the hope and care they need. 🙏🏻
