For 50 years, Operation Kindness Humane Society has been there for North Texas pets when they need us most. Today, our impact reaches farther than ever before. Early giving opens today for North Texas Giving Day, and with your support, we can continue providing lifesaving care, shelter and hope to animals across our community — like Blue.

When Blue arrived from one of our municipal shelter partners, he was fighting for his life. Blue and his two littermates were suffering from parvovirus, a highly contagious and often deadly disease that threatens vulnerable puppies.

They spent weeks in the care of our veterinary team, receiving intensive treatment, constant monitoring, and plenty of love as they fought to recover.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Blue overcame the odds and recovered. Today, Blue is healing in a foster home - nearly ready to find the loving family he's been waiting for.

In honor of Operation Kindness Humane Society’s 50th year, we’re honoring what makes our community strong: compassion, creativity, connection, and access to resources that help everyone thrive. 🎉

Ahead of North Texas Giving Day, our Paws and Celebrate 50th Anniversary Festival will be a campus-wide event at Operation Kindness featuring a vibrant market with local vendors, makers, and small businesses, Name Your Price adoptions and a human and pet health fair – all created to bring joy, support and opportunity to families across North Texas.

Join us on September 12 starting at 11am at our main shelter location located at 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006.

This is a FREE event to attend with part of the proceeds from each vendor being donated back towards our North Texas Giving Day goal! No matter how you decide to show up on this fun, community filled day, your support will directly impact saving the lives of thousands of animals.

Last month, Operation Kindness Humane Society began working with the City of Alvarado following a large animal intake case that left their shelter capacity and resources stretched incredibly thin.

As soon as the animals were cleared for transfer placement this week, we stepped in to help, bringing 13 cats from the case into our care. We also transferred in five puppies from the Alvarado shelter, helping create much-needed space and support for their team.

Now at Operation Kindness, these cats are receiving comprehensive medical care, including intake exams, vaccinations, and evaluations from our veterinary team. While most are doing well, a few have medical concerns that are being addressed, and several are receiving specialized care in our isolation space in our Rees-Jones Foundation Medical Wing.

We'll continue to share updates as they progress and let our followers know when they're ready to find loving homes.

We're proud to support our shelter partners and provide a second chance for animals in need. These cats are just one example of the hundreds of pets we welcome each week from partner shelters across North Texas, all on their journey to new families.

Adoption stories are our favorite, even the out of state ones! These happy out-of-state adoptions wouldn't be possible for our incredible transport fosters who open a spot in their home for these sweet animals while they wait for their flight to their loving homes. ✈️

Our Tails in Transit fosters are looking for temporary homes to cuddle in before making their journey to our shelter partners out of state. Becoming a Tails in Transit foster makes a huge difference, not only for the pet in your care, but for other animals in our community too. By opening your home, you’re also opening a spot at the shelter so we can help even more animals. Fostering with us is completely free! We provide all necessary supplies, guidance and ongoing support. All you need to provide is a safe, loving place for them to stay.

Please note: Tails in Transit animals are not available for local adoption. They already have confirmed placements and adopters waiting for them out of state. All pickup, return and medical appointments take place at our Lifesaving Partnerships Hub in Central Dallas, at 1771 Terre Colony Ct, Dallas, TX 75212—not our Earhart location.
