Salem County Humane Society

Salem County Humane Society Salem County Humane Society is a fully donation-funded, no-kill, volunteer-run animal shelter in Carneys Point, New Jersey. and 4-6 p.m.
(213)

We have been in operation saving dogs and cats since 1975. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and your donations may be tax-deductible. Salem County Humane Society is a no-kill shelter for homeless dogs and cats, located on North Game Creek Road in Carneys Point, New Jersey. As a no-kill shelter, we work diligently to place animals in loving homes. However, dogs and cats who aren’t able to attract a ne

w family remain at the shelter permanently and see all the volunteers as their family. We operate strictly through donations and fundraisers, without relying on any local, state, or federal government funds. Our staff consists of 100% volunteers. We do not perform animal control duties; each township within Salem County has its own animal control officer. All the animals at our shelter receive veterinary care, including spaying and neutering. We never discriminate based on health or age, and we take in the abused, unwanted, and abandoned companion animals that other human beings have forgotten. We hope people will become more aware of the plight of homeless animals and recognize the benefits of adopting an animal in need. We encourage you to open your heart and home to one of these pets who is just waiting for the right person.

🐾New Volunteers Welcome!🐾

Volunteers play a crucial role in keeping the Salem County Humane Society operational, as we do not have any paid personnel. We welcome individuals and families of all backgrounds, including families with children aged 10 and above, retirees, and everyone in between. Our volunteer opportunities include:

• Daily Activities: feeding, medicating, and exercising the animals, cleaning the building to maintain a sanitary environment, and socializing all the dogs and cats. Morning and evening shifts are available.
• Vet Appointments: Volunteers assist by taking dogs and cats to their scheduled veterinary appointments.
• Maintenance: Volunteers perform necessary maintenance tasks for the building and grounds.
• Fostering: Providing temporary foster homes for young animals or those recovering from surgery or illness.
• Community Events and Fundraising: Volunteers participate in organizing and supporting community events and fundraising efforts.

Don’t forget! Our dog of the week is Aspen!

For this week only her adoption fee will be reduced to $100. She is up to date on all shots.
If you need to spice up your life, Aspen is the girl for you. Her youthful spirit and puppy like personality will be sure to bring a new light into your life. She is about 6 months old, puppies shouldn’t have to grow up in a shelter! Originally she came with her two brothers, but they all got adopted before her.

Aspen is such a fun and energetic puppy that would get along with any animal in your house. She would especially love to have a doggy sibling to teach her all the tricks and manners. After she is done playing around she loves to lay down and get belly rubs from anybody that crosses her path. She is waiting for that special person right now.

If you or someone you know is interested is Aspen, please fill out an application and send it to us! Let’s find this girl her forever home ❤️

Meet Patches & Snuggles — two senior brothers looking for a second chance 💛

These big, lovable boys came to us after their owner passed away, and now they’re ready to bring warmth and affection to a new home (preferably with a cozy couch). Patches is a dapper tuxedo, Snuggles is a sweet tabby, and yes — they really live up to their names.

They’ve been together their whole lives, so we’d like them to go to the same home. The good news? Our adoption special means you get both for just $50!

Fill out an application and make an appointment to come meet your new best friends 🐾

Since 1975, the Salem County Humane Society has been a volunteer-run, nonprofit rescue dedicated to caring for homeless dogs and cats. What began with just a handful of volunteers has grown into a facility with separate wings for cats and dogs and the support of nearly 100 dedicated volunteers. We receive no government funding and have no paid staff—our work is sustained entirely through donations and fundraisers.
Recently, our veterinary and food expenses have surged due to an increase in the number of animals we’re taking in. Most municipalities in Salem County lack intake facilities for strays, and nearby shelters are overwhelmed, leaving us to care for more animals than ever before.
Your support helps us continue providing essential medical care, shelter, and love to every animal we take in. Every donation goes directly to their care and the operation of our facility. Thank you for standing with us and the animals in our charge.

✨This week… a hot new bombshell enters the villa ✨
Meet Amaya and Bryan!
These two kittens are looking for their forever homes. Just like their famous counter parts, they are stunning, loving, and belong together. Amaya is more outgoing than Bryan, possibly because of the zoomies that are built into the name.
We would prefer than Amaya and Bryan go to the same family! (Who could separate the Love Island couple that we voted for!) if you are interested in adopting this duo please fill out an application.

🆘️🆘️🆘️ Please read Sailor's tale. Let us introduce you to our SUPER friendly Sailor. Unfortunately somewhere on his voyages he contracted FIV. He is very healthy otherwise and can remain this way for many years. We REALLY need a home or longtime foster for him come August 25th after he is neutered. In a peaceful home he can live with other cats and not be a risk of transferring FIV, it's primary spread is through breeding and very deep bite wounds. It is a feline only condition so no worries to humans or dogs. If you have any questions please reach out to us we are happy to have someone speak with you.
