In the age of social distancing, our pets can be a lifeline to normalcy. They occupy the home that we find ourselves increasingly trapped in, and they occupy our hearts as the social isolation - from friends, and the social environments we are accustomed to enjoying - sets in. You may have questions about how to best care for them during this national emergency. Can I get COVID-19 from my pet? Should I take my dog for walks? What happens if I have to self-isolate, or get COVID-19? This article from psychology today answers many of the questions that we have regarding our pets and covid-19.

One of the most important takeaways from this article is that planning and preparedness are critical. Have an emergency kit set up for your pet with sufficient supplies, medications, and make sure you include information that a caretaker might need to know, if that caretaker were not you - your vet, any special needs.
Identify someone who would be willing to care for your pet in the event you end up hospitalized, or quarantined away from them. Make sure that person has been notified and knows where your pets' emergency kit is and how to get to your pet.
Seer Farms is already fielding inquiries about our availability to temporary care for animals in the event their owners are separated from them. We are, and will, accept animals into our Out of Crisis program for owners who cannot care for their pets because of COVID-19. Email us at [email protected] for more information.
