To the Animal loving community I have come to love. I have decided to step down from my position at Macoupin County Animal Control. We have had such a wonderful and productive year and have placed so many animals into loving homes. We also established relationships with rescues throughout the state to give our overlooked animals a second chance in a different area. As much as I have enjoyed making a difference with all of you it is time to step back and spend more time with my growing family. Please show grace and understanding to the new administration as they get their footing and continue our mission to save lives. Thank you again for all of your support!

Every once in a while in Animal Control you see a great dog that has been over looked get adopted, today it was Charlie! Charlie has been here 11 mo. Nothing wrong with him but had we had no interest from the public.This hero took him to his furever home this morning. Thank you Brandon your amazing!

Rachel Leggett with a full heart of compassion has always had a love for domestic and wild animals. Rachel recently retired from Girl Scouts troop 6232, and chose to donate the money she had left in her girlscout account of just over 2,500.00 generated from years of volunteering in her community to the animals at Macoupin County Animal Control & Adoption Center. Great job Rachel! We appreciate and recognize the hard work you have generously put in over the years leaving a lasting impact on your community. Our Story

Each year, it is estimated that 3.7 million animals are euthanized in our nation’s shelters. You can make a difference in the life of one (or more!) of these precious creatures. We are a rural shelter with limited resources...so we are always happy to get donations of good food, litter, collars, leashes, etc.

You can also help our community by “fixing” your pet---less litters mean less abandoned animals in shelters! Spay or neuter your pet at greatly reduced prices through our monthly program. Call (217) 854-4024 to reserve a spot for your pet!

Also...Volunteers are always needed at the shelter to:

• Help clean, walk the dogs, cuddle cats or help brush and groom them.
