🙀แมวขาวมณี (Khao Manee) เป็นแมวพันธุ์ไทยแท้ที่มีลักษณะเด่นคือ ขนสีขาวล้วน ตาสีฟ้า เหลือง หรือตาสองสี ซึ่งสีขนขาวล้วนนี้มีความเกี่ยวข้องกับพันธุกรรมอย่างมาก โดยเฉพาะ “ยีนขาว (white gene)” ที่มีสัญลักษณ์ว่า W
👉คำอธิบายทางพันธุกรรม
• ยีน W (dominant white): เป็นยีนที่ปิดกั้นการแสดงออกของสีขนอื่น ๆ ทำให้แมวดูเหมือนมีขนสีขาวล้วน แมวที่มี W จะมีขนสีขาวเสมอ ไม่ว่าจะมีพันธุกรรมของสีอื่นอยู่ด้วยหรือไม่
• W เป็น dominant: แปลว่า หากแมวมี W เพียงตัวเดียว (Ww) ก็จะขาวล้วนแล้ว ส่วนแมวที่ไม่มี W เลย (ww) จะมีสีขนตามพันธุกรรมปกติ เช่น ลายสลิด สีดำ สีส้ม ฯลฯ

Q: ทำไมผสมขาวมณีแล้วได้ลูกสีอื่น?
A: ถ้าแมวขาวมณีที่นำมาผสมกัน ไม่ได้มี W แบบบริสุทธิ์ (WW) แต่เป็นเพียง Ww ทั้งคู่ (ซึ่งพบได้บ่อย) เมื่อจับคู่กันจะเกิดความเป็นไปได้ของลูกดังนี้:
พ่อ (Ww) × แม่ (Ww)
ลูกที่ได้
WW (25%) ขาวมณีแน่นอน
Ww (50%) ขาวมณีแน่นอน
ww (25%) ไม่ขาวมณี – สีตามยีนพื้นฐานที่แฝงอยู่
ดังนั้น ถ้าลูกออกมาไม่ขาว อาจเป็นเพราะลูกได้ยีน ww ซึ่งไม่มี W เลย จึงแสดงสีตามพันธุกรรมจริง เช่น สีดำ ส้ม ลายเสือ ฯลฯ
อธิบายเพิ่มเติม
• ขาวมณีพันธุ์แท้หลายตัวในไทยอาจไม่ได้เป็น WW แท้ ทำให้ลูกหลุดสีได้
• ถ้าอยากได้ลูกขาวทุกตัว ควรผสมแมวที่เป็น WW × WW (ซึ่งหาได้ยากและต้องตรวจพันธุกรรมเพื่อยืนยัน)
หากจะผสมแมวขาวมณีให้ได้ลูกสีขาวทั้งหมดทั้งคอกจริง ๆ อาจต้องทำการทดสอบ DNA เพื่อดูว่าแมวที่มีอยู่เป็น WW หรือไม่
Q: WW ผสมแล้วหูหนวกจริงป่าว
A : ไม่จริงเสมอไป เพราะแมวไทยมีความหลากหลาย อินบรีดน้อยกว่าในต่างประเทศ จึงทำให้แมวไทยมีสุขภาพแข็งแรงกว่าขาวมณีในยุโรป
Q: ลูกแมวที่เกิดจากขาวมณี ww เป็นลายวัว ส้ม สลิด เรียกขาวมณีได้หรือไม๊
A: ลายวัวก็คือลายวัวค่ะ สลิด ก็คือสลิด ส้มคือส้ม ไม่สามารถเรียกขาวมณีได้ แต่สามารถนำกลับมาผสมเพื่อให้ได้ลูก WW ถ้าไม่มีแมวขาวมณีจริงๆ พบได้ในแมวจร ที่ให้ลูกแมวสีขาว
*การนำแมวสายใหม่เข้ามาผสม ในแมวไทย จะทำให้แมวไทยมีระบบภูมิคุ้มกันที่ดี ไม่อ่อนแอ และลำตัวจะได้สัดส่วนไม่แคระแกร็น สามารถยอมรับได้ เพราะ แมวไทยเกิด Natural Breeding แมวไทยมียีนที่แข็งแกร่ง แมวบ้านเราเป็นต้นสายของแมวสายพันธุ์ใหม่มากกว่า 40 สายพันธุ์
Q: แมวสายใหม่คือ
A: เช่นแมวศุภลักษณ์ที่พบเจอตามท้องถนน ที่มีลักษณะถูกต้องทุกอย่างกลับมาผสมรวมฝูงในฟาร์ม เพื่อรักษาความสมดุล ไม่เกิดเลือดชิด

The Suphalak Cat originates from Thailand. They are one of the rarest breeds in the world if not the rarest. Only 150 in all of Thailand and fewer even throughout the world. If you are looking for a wonderful breed of cat, the Suphalak fits the bill in every way. Unfortunately, I couldn't continue with breeding them because it would require the expansion of my program (gene pool) by importing more cats at a time when my family needs me. This is the only reason I decided to stop breeding them. If anyone is interested in adopting a Suphalak, Khaomanee or Korat, which are all rare breeds from Thailand, you need to contact Lori and Joe with White Gems Cattery. Lori and Joe have been preserving the Thai Cat breeds for over 14 years. they are the dynamic duel. They are committed and dedicated to the preservation of the purebred Thai Cats.

Thanks to Louis from Permes Cattery for our day in Seattle yesterday. Was a whirlwind trip done in one day, our lines will continue with the beautiful cat thanks to him! Kitties are home settling in, will post pictures as soon as we can. They are beautiful!!
