The 4th is no fun for most of our pets, including horses. Injuries are common to both dogs and horses who try to flee the terrifying noises of fireworks.

Please keep your pets inside and avoid setting off fireworks in areas near horses.

Pardon our dust...
You may have noticed the construction on the building next to Cherokee Animal Hospital. We are still in the middle of this long journey but are making progress. We are fixing up the property, and building out 4 new exam rooms to use for our patients. This will greatly reduce our dependence on curbside services!!!

A little unconventional perhaps, but we will make it work! These new exam rooms will be in the lower level, around the back of the second building. (We call it "Cherokee Junior"). We can't wait to share this new adventure with our clients.
We'll keep you posted!

We don't get too many complaints from our clients, but the most common one we hear is about our occasionally long wait times. This has become an increasing problem as we have gotten busier and yet only have 4 examination rooms. Seeing patients inside while their owners wait in their cars has helped with flow (thank you to all who agree to this method) but we still run behind when some patients just need more time due to more severe illness.

We have spent the last 2 years in negotiations and planning and are finally making progress on adding a few new exam rooms in the building located just to our left. This will present new problems with parking and flow as the buildings are not physically connected. But we are super excited about the potential this opportunity presents to us, our clients and our patients.

Thank you to everyone for your patience. This building needs lots of rehab but we will keep you updated!!

CAT DEATHS linked to RAW FOODS
(please share to spread the word)

Dozens of cats across the country have become sick and many have died following infection with H5N1 bird flu. While many have been outdoor cats with exposure to wild birds or poultry, some are strictly indoor cats that were eating raw foods that had been contaminated with the virus. Still others were affected after drinking unpasteurized milk.

Signs of illness include fever, lethargy heavy discharge from the eyes and nose, respiratory distress and neurological issues.

While human infections remain rare, proper hygiene when handling raw foods, animal waste and sick or dead animals is strongly recommended.
