Halloween Candy Can Be Scary for Pets!

As you enjoy your Halloween treats, remember to keep the candy bowl away from curious paws. Chocolate, sugar-free candy containing xylitol, raisins, and other ingredients can be dangerous or even life-threatening to dogs and cats.

🐶🐱 Keep candy and wrappers securely out of reach.
🍫 Never intentionally give pets chocolate or sugar-free treats.

🚨 If your pet gets into Halloween candy, contact your veterinarian or a pet poison service promptly—even if they seem fine.

If you want your pets to join the tasty fun Pumpkin Puree is a great option! Offer plain pumpkin only—not pumpkin pie filling, which may contain sugar, spices, or other ingredients pets shouldn’t have.

Your pet’s gums can reveal important clues about their health! ❤️

Here’s what to look for:

EmojiPink gums: Usually a sign of healthy circulation.

⚪ Pale or white gums: May indicate anemia or other serious health issues.

🔴 Red or swollen gums: Can be a sign of dental disease or inflammation.

🟡 Yellow gums: May indicate liver problems or other medical conditions.

🔵 Blue or purple gums: Can signal a lack of oxygen and require emergency veterinary care.

🐾 Know what’s normal for your pet! Gum color can vary, and changes should never be ignored. If your pet’s gums look unusual, contact your veterinarian. Seek emergency care for blue or purple gums, especially with breathing difficulties.

Help Your Pets Have a Less Stressful Halloween!

Costumes, doorbells, strangers, and loud noises can make Halloween overwhelming for dogs and cats.

🐶🐱 Give them a quiet, comfortable space away from the door.
🔔 Use calming music or white noise to reduce outside sounds.
🦴 Offer a favorite toy, treat, or blanket.
🚪 Keep doors and windows secure to prevent escapes.
❤️ Let anxious pets hide and give them plenty of space.

🐱 Frequent grooming or irritated skin
👂 Recurrent ear irritation or infections
🤧 Sneezing or watery eyes

🍁 Paw protection: Keep a towel and pet-safe paw wipes nearby to clean muddy or wet paws after outdoor adventures.

🧥 A cozy layer: For pets that get chilly, consider a comfortable sweater or jacket when temperatures drop.

🩹 Pet first-aid kit: Be prepared for minor scrapes, cuts, or other little outdoor mishaps.
