Dot's NH supplied us with yummy food and drinks and Hayley from Valia Photography shot her fabulous photos - thank you EVERYONE for joining us and having a fun time!

Equestrian Mounted Games are fast-paced, relay-style horse races performed by teams, pairs, or individuals. Originally created by Prince Philip in Great Britain in 1957, these games were designed as a fun, affordable way to develop excellent riding skills without needing expensive elite horses.
Today, riders of all ages and abilities compete globally in this high-energy sport.

Core Elements of the Sport
* The Equipment: Riders use ordinary household objects like plastic mugs, tennis balls, cones, and flags to complete tasks while riding.
* The Ponies: ANY HORSE can do mounted games but competitors typically ride smaller, agile ponies. Ideal mounted games ponies are fast, calm under pressure, and highly responsive to neck reining.
* The Vaulting: Riders frequently jump off and (more advanced riders actually vault) back onto their moving ponies during a race.

Popular EXAMPLE Games for Beginners
* Bending Race: Riders weave in and out of a line of poles, drop a baton to the next rider, and repeat.
* Mug Shuffle: Riders gallop to a row of poles and move plastic mugs from one pole to another.
* Sock Race: Riders drop rolled-up socks into a bucket on the ground while riding past.
* Two-Flag Race: Riders carry a flag down the lane, swap it for another flag inside a cone, and gallop back.

Key Skills You Will Develop
* Flawless Balance: You will learn to shift your weight seamlessly as the pony turns sharply.
* Athletic Agility: You will master vaulting on and off a moving animal.
* Hand-Eye Coordination: You will practice grabbing small objects while moving at a gallop.
* Deep Trust: You will build a strong bond with a pony that learns to read your slightest body movements.
